Doom 3. Latest News

Well, id in general gave Valve little respect until HL was actually released. I think their attitude has changed though, considering the first 15 minutes of Doom3 are basically an homage to HL.

i love the end when the TechTV guy goes.. PLEASE dont let this game suck

eh? What makes you think that?
Which?

It was stated that id considered HL to be a project that would fail, in some Gamespot article.

As for the homage.. well, you are going to be walking around the base talking to scientists, and it looks like you even ride on a tram. I am just connecting the dots.

Yea, I was referring to the homage part. I don't see it. Most games give you the opportunity to take it easy and get used to operating in the world during the first 10 to 20 minutes. I don't see it as a homage, and I certainly don't think it was intended as a homage to HL.

I think I read somewhere too that id wasn't optimistic about HL, but that it had more to do with the fact that Gabe an co. were some newbs just hitting the scene. I'm sure they respect Valve more now that they have established themselves as a major player in the industry.

Man, I am finally glad they showed a newer video with stuff not seen before. I <3 it!

It was just back on Tech TV. I just watched it on my TV with surround sound. I do not lie when I tell you this, THIS GAME WILL ROCK THE PLANET! The video forgot to show a Todd Hollenshead interview where he confirms RTCW 2 and another engine and game from id Software. :D

AH link down :(

Btw Carmack didnt invent BSP.

Carmacks reverse is a clever little thing :)

Carmack did not invent BSP, someone in the 16 hundreds did that ... it was Carmacks genius to use it in video games.

YEah that G4TechTV video is awesome. They've totally changed the game from what we saw of it in E3 2003. It looks fantastic

The video I have is like 12mb and is alot lower resolution that the 640 resolution TV is encoded at ... does anyone have a higher quality version of the video ... it would be cool to watch it with out all the blurry-ness.

It is stating to look that way but videos can trick you so I will wait till I have had a chance to play both games ... but if I was Gabe I would not be sleeping well tonight.

> means greater than and < means less than right? I always get confused when people use those signs

Think of it like a greedy ducks mouth it will allways try to eat the bigger one ... lol that what my 1st grade teacher told me.

My teacher use to tell me it was pacmac cause we had to put the little symbol into a bubble and pacman always wants to eat the bigger number.

I've had it long memorized. But when I did have a problem with them I would just think the one looked like a crooked L which stands for less.

Saw/read those like 5-6 hours ago amazing vid.

Mornington Peninsula... :D

That was one very nice little video. I'm excited about the game, but I just really, really hope it's honestly taken some pages from games like Half-Life and put some thought into the story, and story sequences. I'm sure it's leaps and bounds ahead of the original games, but if it still feels like an afterthought, or tacked on in some way, that would be a let-down. It's just one of the things I love to have in a game, and if it turns out to be about nothing more than an evil scientist who unlocks a portal to hell, I'll be disappointed. Whatever happens, I'm sure it'll be a fun shooter; I only hope id went that extra mile and cooked-up a really well crafted tale to complement the spine-tingling gameplay.
