Dr Clayton forrester: model for Gordon Freeman

I just watched War of Worlds. For some strange reason, the character Dr Clayton Forrester reminds me of Dr Gordon Freeman, here are the reasons.

Dr Forrester:
He is a doctor (obviously)
Wears thick glasses on occasions
He keeps a geiger counter close to him at all times
His parents died
He lives on campus
He makes friends fast
He issues orders, rather than receives them

Dr Freeman:
Well, I guess he is a doctor as well, yeah?
Wears thick glasses as well
He suit comes with a geiger counter :O
We don't know if he does have parents
He lived in personal dormitaries (before everything went pear shaped)
Its obvious his got friends ("Hey catch me later, and I'll buy you a beer.")

Maybe Gordons character really is based on this one...

But I read that Gordons looks were inspired on a designer...
I dont know if he worked at Valve, or somewhere else...
