I can always correct my mistakes ...stupidity lasts forever

:O

you keep convincing yourself of that

although I'm starting to think I'm siding with stupid for continuing this conversation for more than one post ...stupidity must be contagious

*rubs dirrty hand on Stern's face*

Serioulsy though...it's that most of the time I am my own worst enemy...Im not stupid though.

OK guys lets end this here. Also Lemonking - you are here for the reason that I let you stay here, most people don't think you deserve a 3rd chance. I do not expect you to make me look stupid and start these little flame wars. Please stop this now, and consider stop posting in the Politics forum for your own good. You are entitled to your opinion, but you also insult other members for their opinions too. You've let me down again...

Back on topic from this point if poss guys? :)

I voted "Serve My Country" by mistake instead of "conscientious objector".

I don't think I'd be able to serve anyway, I have asthma and a problem with the tendon in my foot.

I'm amazed at how many people here still cling to this romantic notion of the the perfect, glorious and righteous war that they would be proud to be a part of. A war where they star as the hero and they change the course of history by defeating the evil "insert name here" and upholding all that is right and just.
A battlefield on which we get to indulge our most violent tendencies without feeling anything but pride, no weight upon our conscience no stain on our souls.

Unfortunately, such beautiful confict exists nowhere except perhaps in fiction and games. Perhaps we came close with WW2, but even that started as jostling between European empires. Luckily we were able to attach a narrative of good over evil at the end, a fig leaf that just about covered our own crimes and misdemeanors. The good olden days of sepia-tinted slaughter, safe and predictable unchanging with each blockbuster performance on the big screen and the small.

So come join me in the only truly glorious conflict, the virtual one. Celebrate with me each and every headshot, relish every death of our immortal foes. Watch as each defeat is reset into a possible victory to be won by those whose hearts are pure and pings low .

Give up the dream of the war that is both good and real.

* Concientious objector (in theory).

where do I plunk down my $59 and what's the minimum specs?

it was in jest, I was actually agreeing with you ..but now you've ruined it

/me runs away

*Takes aim @ Captain ...*

*fires...*

*BAM! HEADSHOT! !*

He he, I love it when they run, its just so..... satisfying.

That bugger from *side A* wont be harming anyone from glorious *side B*, for at least ooh, two minutes.

Onward my brothers !

Fight for the glory of...

of....

*Who are we again?*

now where did he go?

dance naked in a public whit a rifle screaming "hey people I am going to represent my country in a war, killing arabs and all that shit wooooopie!"

lol @ those that would throw their lives away to line other people's pockets ..you're a credit to your nation
Are you retarded? Are you a retarded person? You are, aren't you?

You're like a broken record. Every time you post something about the military, you make it seem as if people in the armed services are only looking to kill some innocent Iraqi citizens, rape a couple of Iraqi women and steal oil from the Middle East so that the Bush administration can make a buck...

And another thing; either take the time to incorporate things like grammar, punctuation and proper spelling into your posts, or get the **** out.

For me, attacking North Korea would make that come true.

2-3 months of elite Army training. Turning you into an elite soldier of South Korea!! Fit, ready, excited.

32 seconds into combat a bullet through the eye.

It's all over.

If your side loses the war you won't even be remembered through a stone etching on a monument. There are better ways to make your mark on history. Go and cure cancer, or invent lightspeed engines for spacecraft. Holy shit!

Problem is, that's a somewhat extreme example.

Look at D-day for instance, most survived.

Anyway, I get your point.

I meant the 16 people that voted "serve my country" in this thread

and the "credit to your nation" comment wasnt sarcastic
Your ignorance and stupidity never cease to amaze me, you'll be an excellent role model for your son.

Whoops, sorry, that last bit wasn't sarcasm...

do you have trouble understanding the written word? is there some mental defect that prevents you from understanding what was said? Or are you so stubbornly blind that you fail to make sense of what I wrote and instead came up with your own twisted idiotic conclusion?

see the problem as I see it is that certain people cant deal with adult issues so as a way of coping they rant and scream bloody murder in lieu of a serious stance on any particular issue ..since you fail to have any sort of pov of any importance on any given issue you formulate them on the fly meaning that they're often ill conceived, reactionist, inaccurate and above all else idiotic ..you do yourself a disservice Mr Borgasm by simply being here

oh and be a man and confront me directly, keep my family out of it and show some respect

i did contemplate joining the military for college money but decided against it since i want to go to graduate school too. if there was a draft i would join the marines not the army since you pretty much drive around in your humvee waiting to be blown up in the army but in the marines you get to do the fighting. i also think you have until you are 23 to enlist so you can wait it out.

I would object, stay here, and continue to go to college. If it was between Iraq and jail, I would choose jail.

I would serve my country. There's nothing more exciting and eye opening then to participate in not only making history but possibly becoming it.

I'd prefer to be educated and use my gifts in a more productive manner for the good of all of humanity, but if necessary and called on. I would serve. Honor is important to me. I have lived in my nation for the whole of the life, while I consider myself a citizen of humanity, foremost, I'm a citizen of the United States and have benefited from the blood and sweat of those who have come before me. My nation is at a crossroad, we've turned our backs on our Chief Benefactor, regardless if called on I will serve with every drop of blood and sweat. Sangue e Onore', Amen.

Exactly.

I'd put my underpants on my head, put two pencils up my nose and say "wibble".

Actually, I'd serve my country.

I would ****ing blast some bitches with my nines. JK. I would actually pussy out and come up with some excuse. I don't want to get blown to ****ing bits.

If you get drafted, you dont need to just be a field grunt right? There are a lot more jobs in the military than just killing people. I would probably do something on computers for them. And then get court marshaled for being on hl2.net too much.

Hey they are even making video games now... I actually think I might enjoy service if I could land a job in training simulation development.

I'd serve my country, I have no problem doing so.

"What if" threads like this are merely flame bait & good for rallying the mindless. "What if Clinton raped your sister?" Well, he didn't & I don't have a sister, so stop asking stupid questions! There is no draft & there isn't going to be any draft for the Iraq war.

And for those claiming people are just throwing their lives away . . . Any decision can be mindless, good or bad. Just like there are a lot of stupid people that become religious (or atheist - either way); that doesn't make either perspective right or wrong. A decision isn't immediately stupid just because you dissagree with it.

yet you felt the need to post in this thread and voted in the poll ...hmmm interesting

I dont get it ...because I make a valid point all of the sudden I hate the military?

To be quite fair, you are incredibly biased against the current US adminstration as well as the US Military. In most cases you're bias with good reason, but in quite a few arguments you appear to be bias without any logic behind it.

I remember one argument i had with you on these forums a few years ago, where you tried to convince me that the majority of the US Military was full of evil people. The only proof you had for this argument was an incredibly left-wing video of a few interviews of american soldiers in Iraq who believed what they were doing for their country was the right thing. That was all the justification you needed to claim that most of the US soldiers fighting in Iraq are evil.

I wish i could actually go back and find this post, but if you haven't been keeping count, you have 22,000 posts on this forum and tracking one for the sake of an argument isn't worth my time.

Not that i don't love you CptStern :p.

But come on, you like the US military as much as you like the US Government. And i can see why.

oh come on that sounds a little extreme even for me, I dont remember this incident at all

there really is no distinction between the two ..in terms of culpability for this war .***msfeld is (or was) secretary of defense and chief architect of the invasion of iraq (along with ari fleischer)

anyways I'd like to clarify that I dont hate individual soldiers ..at least not those who havent commited atrocities/crimes. In fact I'm a member of a guild who's majority of members are either former or current US soldiers (politics usually dont come up ..I try to keep it that way) ..one of the people I converse with the most from that group served a tour of duty in iraq last year ..and we're on civil terms
