Wow, this was for me the only game worth getting at launch for the XBOX 360, I fell sorry for the people that pre-ordered an XBOX 360 for this game...

i'm actually glad they did this, I prefer finished products

Ummm... delays arent always caused by development problems.

So that brings x360 launch titles down from 5 to 4? :D

I bet Microsoft doesn't

The yahoo article confused me. Is it talking about fiscal q2 or q2 2006.

Gives me time to save up for a 360.

This is the one game I really want!

I'd rather get this for the Xbox 360. My computer won't be able to handle this.

man I'd rather use the 399$ to get a new cpu/graphics card to play it on my comp

I just really hope this doesn't affect the PC release. I actually have a few small mod plans to start developing once its out, plust I desperately want to play this game right now.

Man that sucks.:\

I'll just get the PC vers if it releases earlier, even tho it'll run like shit on me computer.

Man, that sucks(Again), the best RPG this year delayed to the next :(

one day, a game will be released on the date they say it will be released on.

one day.

used to happen all the time until the late 90's. Now because of increasingly insane hardware requirement changes and ever more greedy marketing suits calling the shots, it's become sadly normal to release 'fashionably' late.

It cuts both ways though, for example Stalker which I won't be buying on release now (when ever the hell that is). I shall be waiting for it to hit the £10 mark and simply enjoy it warez style in the mean time.

Not that I expect Oblivion to go the same way you understand.

Let me get this straight, you're using delays of an game you have not paid a single penny for as an excuse to warez it and only to buy it when you feel it's cheap enough?
I love the way you're thinking!:D

Nooooooooooooooo!

At least it probably isn't a business decision to delay. As long as it was the developers who wanted it delayed then it is most likely best.
If this were a business decision, it would be a remarkably bad one. Delaying this title til the time around when the PS3 releases? Why even launch a system with 4 games that aren't even that great and then try to tout it when the next system debuts? I thought they already tried that with Halo 3. :rolling: It's crazy talk.

Oblivion was on many people's list as the must-have game for the holidays and it will now easily miss that window. Maybe they are going to work more on character animations. :)

I love it too.

The whole game process it geared up to make maximum profits, the paying public be damned. I have no sympathy for developers who can't even hit release dates that have been delayed a year and are anticipated to be delayed for another one.

That's the last I'll say of it in this thread as I don't wich to derail it. As for Oblivion, I can't wait to hand over my cash on release day for what will undoubtably be an excellent follow up to Morrowind, it's just a shame it won't be this side of Christmas.

*Me "borrows" a random persons car til the price of it drops low enough for him to want to waste cash on it*:)

From the Gamespot article:
In a conference call with analysts today, Take-Two Interactive announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is being delayed until the second quarter of its next fiscal year, which runs from February to April 2006. While this is still technically within Microsoft's 14-week "launch window"

And I am fine with the delay--there was already way too much to buy! This Fall has been really terrific for games! Looks like the Spring will be too. :)

I almost feel sorry for the people who pre-ordered an X360... but then I realize that I knew that was a stupid idea from the start, haha suckers!

pissed this affects the PC though... bollocks

an old chinese proverb says: if a game is put off until the spring of the next year, then chances are it can live quite happily with another few months delay... and then another... until dang - whaddya know, it's XMAS again

FACT

ah those ancient chinese proverbs; so wise and enlightening ....it's also remarkable how they've adapted some of their proverbs to include Christmas, seeing as how they're, oh I dont know, buddhist? ;) :E

Apparantly Microsoft are releasing the 360 too soon, developers are struggling to keep up.

Could be a developer decision to delay the X-box version, but a business decision to delay the PC version until the same date. That is what I am more worried about.

I am afraid that you are probably right. I am sure they have an agreement with MS that they must release the PC version simultaneously with the 360 version or else risk losing many sales to the PC audience if it came out for Christmas. Still, whether its PC (Windows) or 360, MS wins right? Maybe they just don't get as big a cut of the profits? Ugh. That creepy emcee from Cabaret was right--Money makes the world go around.

It also plays to the fact that MS are indeed releasing the 360 way too early for developers. It smacks of bad business practice and there are going to be precious few games for it for the holidays, let alone quality games for it for a few months at least!

EDIT: MS haven't even confirmed a solid, assured launch line-up yet! With 3 weeks to go before launch, one would hope they are working 29 hour days to get something playable out the door for the kiddies!

The chinese INVENTED god, as well as macromedia fireworks, small easy to peel oranges, and toilet paper. Don't you know anything?

Well the game is delayed, but thankfully there is plenty of other stuff to play until it is released - unlike the year before HL2, when nothing good was around. I even had to go out the ROOM, i was so bored.

Way too much to buy? What was the "much" part? I mean what has come out, FEAR...CoD2? Strictly speaking on behalf of me, I only got FEAR and nothing else, so this ruins the entire year for me in terms of gaming, this is the only other game I was going to get this year, and now, I wont get anything. This sucks balls, big balls, like ACDC plainly puts it, oh well, back to Day of Defeat Source ;(
