EVE Online Trinity

I'll prolly be a miner. Arr, don' you be talkin' ta me, sonny!

Perfect. We're halfway to getting a galaxy-dominating corporation!

Actually..
Step One: Get more than 2 people in our corp.
Step Two: take over a planet star system.
Step Three: Amass millions of credits by telling people this is a bank with a huge amount of interest, then steal it and build a fortress.
Step Four: Evade the police.
Step Five: Get a bunch more people.
Step Six: Set up a mining branch so that we can amass minerals to build shit with.
Step Seven: Have some tacos.
Step Eight: Have a very-merry Christmas.
Step Nine: Get into a huge fleet battle with anyother corp, dominate them and take them over, expanding our influrence.
Step 10: Evade the police more.
Step 11: See Step 10.
Step 12: Hire a bodyguard corporation to protect us from the hundreds of people who hate the shit out of us, and proceed to kill them all.
Step 13: DOMINATE

When I download the trial can I upgrade it to a full version later on?

As far as I'm aware the trial is exactly the same as the full version, minus a few functionalities (to prevent corporations and groups of players from exploiting the free trials). So upgrading would basically involve validating your account with a credit card and paying for some game time, and then you'd be all set.

Hoooooly shit that game confuses me. It took me so long to figure anything out. But so far is been awesome. I'd be willing to play tomorrow night. My character name is Krynn72, and ill probably get on steam chat to see if anyone is playing tomorrow.

Yup, everyone plays on the same server.

I'm adding you to my Buddies list, Krynn.

I'm playing it soon, on my Tainted leaders account :>
I'm doing a little assignment for him, he returns the favor for me.

If you want the premium graphics download the full client and not the upgrade.

Or also if you download the graphics upgrade from within the game it should bypass the boot.ini

Silly CCP! lol

when I click download premium grafix patch I get an unknown version error or something like that

TO FIX YOUR BOOT.INI FILE

Open up Notepad, or Wordpad.
Go to File -> Open.
In the File Name box, type "C:\boot.ini" and click Open.
If text comes up, then you still have your .ini file and you're safe.

If no text shows up:

Go to File -> Open
In the File Name box, type "C:\Windows\pss\boot.ini.backup", and click Open.
Go to File -> Save As, type "C:\boot.ini" and click Save.
Go to Start -> Run, type in "cmd" and hit OK.
In the command window, type "cd c:\" and press enter, then type "attrib +s +h +a boot.ini" and hit enter again.

It should work fine.

I just downloaded like when the client at Today, 06:13 AM
was that before or after they removed the harmful part?

A HL2.net corp would be great, only problem is that I just joined a new corp so I cant leave them yet, but I'd be more than willing to come along with you guys when needed.

And I'd stay away from mining if I were you, gets boring after a while, im going down the PvP route, just getting all my skills up to scratch before I start ;)

I think it depends on how you downloaded it and at what time. I believe they had fixed the problem after 4am.

Well, all this talk was too tempting. Downloading it right now.

Knowing my luck I'll absolutely love it and all the important stuff I need to get done in the next couple of weeks will be out the window! Yay! :D

Edit - The free trial install (600mb) includes the new spangly graphics right? Just wondering as the file is called EVE 'Classic' setup.

I think the content upgrade is separate; you download it from within the game menu. But the boot.ini issue seems to have been fixed by now so you should be fine.

Also add me to your buddy list when you get it all set up, I'm Haram Tsollora.

Will do dude.

What race ya'll pick? I'm doing the character setup at the minute, and I thinking Gallente - Special Forces. Not too sure though.

I went with an Intaki Gallente, specializing in Engineering.

I'm going to start downloading the trial as soon as I get home from classes. How do I go about contacting this HL2 company once in game? How hard is the game to get into?

The game is pretty much entirely mouse-and-HUD based, so maneuvering and combat aren't what you might expect them to be. It's a very complex game, and it's very realistic in the sense that a lot of information isn't spoon-fed to you. Some of the things you'll have to learn by intuition or by exploring the menus. But once you understand how the game works and how to navigate through the information, things start falling into place fairly easily.

As far as the HL2.net corporation goes, I don't think we'll be able to start that until we're actual paying customers. But there does seem to be an option to form temporary "fleets" with other players, which I'm guessing is basically a player group for quests and pirate-hunting. It should do for now.

I'm trying to download the ****ing game but I've gotten to the end of the download twice and it's messed up.

Progress: 619.2 mb of 619.9, network goes out and I have to start over...so I start using the torrent and the damn torrent download keeps restarting. QQ...but I am trying to download the premium graphics package.

I feel the same...almost finished with the tutorial and my brain was hurting. It's definitely eye candy with the new graphics, though.

Horribly complicated, but it's nice to have an MMO that doesn't dumb itself down to accomodate newbies. People in-game are usually pretty nice about helping out.

Basically every single name I wanted was already taken :hmph:. For now, I'm known as BeatsFromTheStreets, aboard my aptly named ship - 'The Crock'.

Did a few missions for a bit of moolah to begin with, which were cool. The music and visuals create a really cool atmosphere when you're zipping around space. I then tried to buy a railgun for my ship, setting me back 20,000 apparently. Moneys gone, yet I can't find my railgun anywhere? ;( Just bought it off the market, cheapest one I could get.

The game's cool, but I'm still confused as **** 95% of the time. I'll try and add some of you guys soon.

Edit - Worked out how to get the stuff I bought. Just had to fly over to the location where the seller was. Duh. :p

You know, it IS complicated, but I really felt nice when I actually used all those strange options, like putting a waypoint on the star chart to get to a space station I had bought something in.

Now I just need some more co-processors to power two mining lasers. Then I'll need something to help my power grid support the new processors.

By the way, I think I ventured into a claimed astroid field, because when I got there, I was attacked by some... they were called something and then saboteur. Well, I salvaged some crap some of their destroyed ships nearby, problem is I can't sell it. Maybe I just need to find the right place instead of a mining station.

Everyone should post their character name so that we can do something together in the game. I had to restart my character because I broke a tutorial mission and because my stats were 15int/14mem/6cha/6will/4per but that's not important, what IS important is that my new character is named Gentu Dakarr and he's much better than before.

ah you guys are making want to play eve again and lose my life.

My characters name is Leon Johnson. I'll get on in a half our or so.

I suggest all you new guys have a look at some of these guides - LINK

Will help with the leaning curve a bit.

Sleipnar here, I've added all of you I hope.

Where are you guys? I'm mostly around The Forge region, buying some stuff so I'm jumping around a lot.

Not that much have changed since last time I played although there are these goddamn ships I've never seen before. :p

Name is Labhoix. Probably will buy the game around christmas, but so far it's a ton of fun. Kinda reminds me of garry's mod in a mmorpg. D: !

I'll be playing today from 3:00 to about 2 am. My name will likely be Kalue Pik or something along those lines. I'll talk to Stig later.
