EVE Online Trinity

I'll be scrapping this Caldari shuttle and going back to my damn Ibis crap since I can't fit anything at all on it because apparently, what I fit isn't "low, medium, or high".

I remember reading an article about this game a long while ago that made it sound tremendously fun. The deal breaker for me though is whether or not this game has twitch based, joystick using, kind of combat or if it's more like a mouse/keyboard, queued attack type thing.

I'm a huge fan of X3 and if the combat is like that, then I'll give this game a try.

Managed to start up a little fleet with Kyrnn and Loke so far. Took me about 30 jumps to get to the same region as them though. It was still good fun in the end, I tried to help Kyrnn wipe out a whole fleet of bad guys for one of his assignments. Was pretty awesome. :D

But does anyone know of any way to give items to other players without using contracts? For some annoying reason trial players can't use contracts at all.

Anyways - I may be on a little later today, probably around 9pm GMT. I'm not sure right now though.

Azner and I spent a while figuring that out, and then we found that you can just jettison some of your cargo in space and have the other person pick it up. Works pretty well, just as long as you're away from other players who might steal it :p

I'll be on then too, send me a message in-game.

Aight. Will be on in a minute! Yay!

I'm just randomly messing around with my trial account.

User; briguy992 (I think, or else do Iced_Eagle)

Hey, What faction should I join, or I mean, what race? :|

Doesn`t really matter too much. A bunch of us seem to have gone with Gallente though (myself included), so if you want to start out with a bunch of people nearby that`d be a good choice.

Damnit, Stig Why didn't you tell me that earlier? I'm an Asamari or whatever now. Get on steam, bitch!

I'm Caldari, would that hinder me associating with the other races? By the way, I'm stuck in the crashed Jita system.

You can ssociate with other races, it's just harder to get near them as you'll have to spend 5 hours jumping gates to get to them.

Once you start forming corporations and flying vessels made by other reaces it does cause problems, but nothing as far as forming fleets or doing quests together.

Well, I've got my Bantam operational with two Miner 1s and a co-processor, plus a reserve weapon, though I'm focusing on mining right now. I make around 15.000.00 for each mining session - The Mexallon sells really ****ing good! 13.000.00 for about 500 of that stuff!

Dear God, I have become a.... an Evefag! :(

Yeah, it's nice. I just tried to buy an industrial ship (hauler, so I can dump my mining stuff into space and pick it up with the hauler later on) to have it say "Restricted on trial accounts!" :|

Would've improved my mining by a lot too. D:<

:( I made more money as a fighter. Screw being a miner when you've only got the two weeks to play.

I might be a subscriber by the end of the trial. I rather like this game.

I would advise people doing the trial to just do combat missions/pirate hunting. It's much more rewarding as long as you don't get yourself blown up, and lots of fun if you make a fleet with people you know, fellow hl2.netters for instance :D

I...might..have to play this game for another 30 days or so :| But we'll see...I used to have an account for a couple months, but I didn't interact with anyone else hardly so I missed a lot of the fun.

I can play tomorrow. Will likely be making a combat/mining hybrid, since I'm a subscriber. lul.

Races.

Not really that important (really not as important as attributes) but gives you a nice jump in the direction you want to go. Every race can train for every ship type. It just takes time.

Gallente: These guys are primarily armour tanking hybrid weapon (blasters and rails) and drone users. Skill trained should reflect this. A favoured PvP race due to the increadible destructive power of blasters at close range (Though it has to be very close range). Notable ships, Thorax, Vexor, Incursus, Myrmidon, Megathon

Amarr: Are widely regraded as getting bit of a rough deal atm, although they aren't half as bad as people make it out. They are armour tanking laser users. Problems with them stem from lasers. They used to be insanely good, now they're just good, but energy requirements and changes so that em damage is less useful can cause trouble meaning Amarr can tank or gank well, just not do both at the same time. Amarr ships also suffer from lack of midslots.

Caldari: Were the undisputed PvE kings. Shield tanking missile users mainly, they also use hybrids in a few vessels. Warships like the raven were able to deal with the hardest of the missions far quicker than any other race. Now torpedos have been rebalanced to be very close range but higher damage they may not be as good as PvE but probably still the best overall. Notable ships, Caracal, Drake, Raven

Minmatar: My race, a mixed back, Matari more or less use projectiles, missiles, drones, shield tank, armour tank, speed tank. As such they're somewhat of a skill point sink. Anyone who is fully trained in Matari can cross train into any other race very easily (though it must be pointed out it takes years to fully train matari). I like them, they have arguebly the best frigate in the game (Rifter), the best destroyer (Thrasher), the best Cruiser (Rupture), and the best battlecruiser (Hurricane).

Anyone who is thinking of extending there subscription should really get the learning skills up. This does take a few months but in the long run will mean you train skills much faster overall.

Mah name is Kalue Amber, add me and chat with meh!

What I like about this game: Its in space, and space is cool.

What I dislike: Why the HELL does it take real-time to train for skills? I'll tell you why, because they want you wasting as much time as possible so that you'll pay more of their stupid monthly fee. I would much prefer to simply accumulate money and buy things, rather than "train" for "skills". That's why I stopped playing the game. As soon as I realized it would take me 3-4 days just to train for a single stupid skill to get a single little laser thing, I dropped it. I don't have time for that kind of shit.

One problem - It doesn't take real time. Don't know where you got that from.

Is the trial version, Trinity? Or the standard Eve?

Eve and Trinity are one and the same.

Trinity is the name of the latest patch/content release update.

It added some new Tech level 2 ships, and changed the way drones and a few modules worked.

Double post but..

Yeah it does take real time, and it can take a lot of time (We're talking nearly a month for some level 5 skills).

Eve is set up in a way that if you want a break you can set up a long skill, let it run and if you choose to come back your character has improved.

I does benefit people who have played longer.

However EvE also has a buy game time for ISK setup, meaning it can be free to play if you can dedicate enough time to the game.

i've just completed the basic tutorial...
does anyone wanna team up and do some low level missions with me?
name's Captain Corrado
or you can find me on xfire @ c0rr4d0

B_Man, add Krynn72 in the game, he has his own tiny fleet going.

I think I misunderstood him - What I meant was that you don't have to wait the time out while the game is running...
Seriously, you can buy game time with ingame money?!

Hey B_Man, I got your message, but I think you and Nemesis have the wrong idea about what a fleet is. A fleet is just a temporary "Party" with other people. I think Naudian is starting up a corporation for us all to join though. See you all in game.

BTW, anyone else besides Stiggy ready to buy this game after the trial is up? I know I am, so hopefully I get some monies for x-mas and can afford the monthly fee.

Yeah, and to flip it around, you can sell time (that you bought with real money) for ISK.

And I also think it's a great idea, stuff like this happens in every MMO, it's like a black market. Accepting the fact that it happens and adding a level of control/protection makes it better for all.

For instance, you can buy a GTC for 90 days (costs in the region of $30) and sell it to another player using the online system for somewhere in the region of 450 mil ISK. When you can do lvl 4 missions comfortably 450 Mil isn't that much (some people can make close to 100 mil an hour, I make more in the region of 30/40) So you can see that you can easily pay your way through if you can put aside ten or so hours every 3 months.

As for buying, Eve attracts a lot of people who don't have a lot of time, but more capital than your regular MMOer. It's a perfect solution for them.

My 850k Destroyer, with about 600k's worth of stuff I bought for it (plus another 200k's worth of goodies in the cargo hold) all down the ****ing drain. ;(

I ran into a few Caldari cruisers on an agent mission, managed to take out one, but my armor eventually wittled down to 50% so I decided to warp the hell out. A minute later, I get the 'warp drive active' message, and my ship proceeds to spin around aimlessly for the next minute so, apparently very confused by the station I was flying next to. All the while a whole fleet of bad guys is hammering my spastic ship into pieces. :|

I know it'd probably take me a couple of days to get it all back, but I reaaally can't be arsed anymore.

I also lost my ship because I was warp scrambled, only my pod got survived just long enough to warp away after my ship was destroyed. Good thing I saved my beloved Bantam right around the corner... which was 13 jumps away.
