EVE Online Trinity

If it controlled like Freelancer or Freespace 2, I'd probably be more inclined to give it a go but at the moment the control system just puts me way off.

God damn, this game is so boring. Got the trial again and its the same stupid stuff: tons of clicking through menu, sticking stuff on autopilot, and waiting...and waiting....boring.

It's nothing like those games. You have no control over how your ship shoots or moves. Its mostly clicking through menus and telling your ship to do very specific things through needlessly complex menus.

I know, I played the trial a while back after a friend kept nagging me to try it.

Needless to say, we don't talk much anymore.

You zip that sassy mouth of yours up right now, mister!

I started playing it after the graphics update. It is hard, but it's so much better than World of Warcraft, etc, in the sense that you need a brain to play it. There are so many things you can do in the game. I consider myself an intermediate noob at the game. I know all the basics of fitting, travelling, etc, but there are entire aspects of the game I don't yet understand yet.

I'll give you this much - It's insanely difficult to get started in the game.

They have been working hard to make the game easier to get into, over the last month or so some patches have come out which add training screens for newly opened windows such as the market etc which I would imagen have good explanations as to whats going on.

It took me a good wile to get into eve, I played it for around 4/5 months before I really started enjoying it. Once in game really interesting situations can develop. I remember times when received intel from spys that rivel corporations where moving large quantities of goods from their hangers and waiting in ambush for their convoy to come through so we could destroy and steal millions worth of isk.

I remember a gang of about 15 of us in noob ships sneaking into a rives home system and finding a guy mining in a mega expensive mining vassal and taking him down, then getting chased by 50+ people. Even one shouting "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE" over vent and finally warping out in to an 80+ gate camp and getting instantly killed!

Its a very harsh, blood thirsty game where its perficly fine to back stab your fellow corp members and steal billions of isk worth of ships and equipment from under their noises. Having to stay on your toes knowing they want their shit back and have put a bounty on your head.

The economy is another very interesting part of the game, know when to buy and sell. Building cheap in one region and selling off in more profitable ones etc.

Combat is wicked fun as well and you really have to put a lot of thought into what role you want to play within a fleet or even on a solo level. There are hundreds of different moduals, each with their own CPU and power grid requirements so you really need to sit and think weather or not you can fit it on and how well they are going to work in conjunction with one another to do maximum damage.

Again within fleets you don't always need to take up a combat role, there are lots of logistic pieces of equipment such as remote rep'ers and dampeners which can really sway a big battle in your favor.

But this really is all stuff which don't come across in a cople of weeks playing and you really need to give it time to relise its all there and how to use it.

About the backstabbing, that happened to my Corporation. The irony is, all recruits have to submit screenshots of their logon screen(for alts), a screenshot of their transactions, etc, and what the corp leader failed to do was just look at the employment history of who was soon to be the second in command -- He had been in and out of the same pirate corporation again and again, and here comes the kicker - While this guy was still in the corp, I was told that some member(s) had suspected ME of being a pirate.

Poetic justice as its best. About a month later, the guy who I suspected reported me looted our POS and gave away its position before joining his old pirate corps again.

I really should join another corp.

I played this first in its beta form and back then, at least for me, it wasn't too hard to get into and play (and as everyone were new you didn't have to worry about getting raped to death in 0.0 by other players). It was mostly a year after its release, when I played it again, when things started to get really complex.

BahG!

Well just got ganked in the middle of empire space. Lost a total of 200mil's worth of equipment that I was hauling to make some profit on out in 0.0. Got to start from scratch now :(

I almost know how it feels. When we played EVE here on HL2.net I lost two of my frigate ships (with rail guns/missile turrets & rockets with an heapload of ammunition), my first on a mission and second by some fag camping outside a station. So I said "****. This. SHIT." and stopped playing. Couldn't be assed to buy all that crap again even though I had about 5 million isk (saving for a Moa cruiser).

Me and Spark are playing this some now, maybe some of you should join us.
^_^

I want to, but I am broke. Every time I see someone talking about this game, I die a little bit.

EVE Online makes me sad. It was never the game I envisioned it would be, and the game I envisioned likely will never be made. :(

I have't played for a good month or so but am kind of in the mood of doing something. I want to start training up to fly some minmitarz0rs :)

Can you torrent this game, and use cheats/console commands to spawn ships and fly fast trough space ?
I don't wanna play it as I wouldn't like it, but I do want to just look at the pretty graphics and such.

No you can't. Tho you could get the trial and fly around looking at other peoples ships.

Do the ships you fly around cater to vegans, cause that is important for me?

Just so you know, Grey Fox, this is nothing like Freelancer, X3, or Freespace.

If you've ever played Nexus : The Jupiter Incident, it's almost exactly like that.
It's more or less a fleet tactical simulator, you control you ship by clicking around in space, not like Homeworld though.
The fact that I can't really explain how you move around is the sole reason why I hate this f*cking game.
It's so complicated.

^^ Noobie :O)

Just double click and you fly in that direction. Genearly you want to find out the optimal range of what ever weapons your using and then orbit people blasting the crap out of them. Thats the basics.

Wow. How did I miss this tread? Anyways, how many of you actually still play? If so, do you play using Steam?

I havn't done as of yet but I'm reckoning its a good way to get this game going. How does it work? Does steam remeber your eve login details? and can you buy time codes through steam?

It's a bit confusing. When you buy it on Steam, it gets added to your games list like any other game and you get one month of game time. You still have to follow a link to create an EVE Online account on their website and make all the following months payments through there. They claim you cannot do this for existing accounts, but I somehow linked Steam to my old trial account (they might of allowed this for a short time, since they were currently having registration issues).

The thing that I love about this is even if you got it through Steam, you can still use their normal client if you want to. Say if you have Linux or Mac, you can use the normal client for that and use Steam for Windows. Basically your EVE Online account isn't tied to Steam at all.

But to answer your questions, no it is against their policy for anything to remember your account information and automatically log you in (and probably not a good idea too) and you cannot use Steam to buy time codes.

Sounds intresting, I may well have to look into it. I guess it keeps the pc a little more handy and will also be able to talk to others through the VOIP but I guess if most people are just running the normal eve client then its a little pointless.

I think I'm going to start my account up again today, need to spam some level3's really to get some better R+D agents but other then that whats everyone doing?! :p

I do agree, they are good but I would imagen that very few people in the eve comunity are using them. People seem to like their vent :)

Post your ho' bag if your cool!

Also, just started my account up again so if anyone wants to get together and do something give me a shout!

Anyone want to go on a small PVP expediton.?! ?

Something cheap and cheerful. Some kind of cruser gang?

Maybe. I do have some cash to throw around. :p

Sorry I declined your friend invite on Steam. I randomly get them often and decline those I don't recognize. You should add me again, since the "Add to your friends list" button isn't currently working.

What region do you guys hang around in? Currently im in Fountain, so if you happen to pass by, be sure to say hi if you catch me on your scanner.

I cant do pvp right now though, focused on maximizing my lvl4 bs, planning on getting a Myrmidon for pvp later tho, will take ages to train though :bonce:
