I do wonder why the usa have 21 as their drinking age, is it after the big dry of [someyear]
Let's mutate the subject, peeps favourite drinks? /me Jack Daniels.
The drinking age is not a result of the prohibition of the 1930's. The legal age was about 21 before vietnam, but when young men started being drafted and were deing, an outcry rose up that you should be able to have a drink (at the age of 18) if you are going to die for your country. The limit was dropped to 18 for a while, but then drinking started to be really insane. The highways became morgs (sp)/ lots of people started deing for a number of factors. a.) alot of guys thought that their keys were tied to their nuts and if they gave up their keys for the night it would be showing that they were wusses or something. b.) the fact that things are so spread out compared to other countries that have lower drinking ages. In texas (where I live) everything is VERY spread out. I drive about 27 miles to hang out with my friends. and so there is alot more driving involved. In alot of cases in europe, you could go to a bar or club have a drink and then walk / stumble home. Not so in the majority of america. After the huge increases of wrecks, congress made a tricky deal to raise the limit. To this day, states COULD have a 18 age limit on drinking, but what congress did was say "You wont get your federal funding for your highways if you have a 18 age limit". Louisiana was the last state to hold out. But now all 50 are 21.
Damn i wrote alot.
