Fallout 3 DLC: Mothership Zeta

That looks like arse, not Fallout.

Seriously, the Drone Cannon screenshot only has the Vault suit in that makes the connection to Fallout, nothing else. Otherwise, it looks like a low res pic from Mass Effect 2.

Its just Bethe$da stroking their digital penis for the viewing pleasure of DA YOOF! - and its just a shame they had to do it while destroying anything left of the Fallout name.

Actually, the point of Anchorage was linearity. It's a damn simulation, after all.

While I would disagree that Fallout 3 is an awful game and a disgrace to the canon, I'd have to agree that this whole aliens thing looks utterly stupid. Heck, I thought the Alien Blaster was out of place. So what if the whole game is 50's style, that doesn't mean aliens should be.

I didn't really view the aliens in FO3 as an attempt to realistic to employ aliens into Fallout. It seemed to me it was more a joke that worked its way into the game. This DLC owes its existence to that joke. Should they really have made this a DLC? I'm not too sure.

I suppose not. And yeah, it was a bit pricey for what it offered.

Killing commies was enjoyable.

I have the equivalent of 12 dollars worth of MS Points laying around. Is Point Lookout worth it?

I keep not wanting to spend it in future hopes that GTA4:Lost and Damned will come to PC..

oh, its worth it alright. i have a feeling that zeta won't be too good, so id buy lookout now.

Should I save my 800 MS Points until this comes out or use them now on the Cod W@W map pack one?

I thought quite the opposite. I was relieved to see the aliens remained inspired by 1950s science fiction with little green men and flying saucers. I'm all for this DLC, as long as it isn't another Operation Anchorage.

So the Alien Blaster in Fallout 1 shouldn't have existed?

Fallout 3 is post-apocalyptic. It's not a catch-all title for everything 1950-ish.

I hate seeing people justify this because it's sci-fi pulp. Fallout 3 is not a sci-fi pulp game, even if that is part of the backdrop. The future as it was envisioned in the 50's is dead and blown away by nuclear warfare. This isn't the world of Flash Gordon.

Say no to little green men.

It was an easter egg with the crashed UFO and an alien carrying a velvet Elvis or if you hatched the easter egg. It was meant as humour, not canon and they put it as obviously as possible.

i agree.
i'm not at all interested in the final DLC.
it's been fun extending the main quest line with Broken Steel, and i'm looking forward to exploring Point Lookout, but Mothership Zeta is a little bit too far fetched for my taste

No, the entire setting of the game is a result of 1950s sci-fi. The intent was to show the effects of what would occur after a nuclear apocalypse but following the rules of such fiction, that's why the radiation mutates people instead of killing them. So while the game itself may not be "1950-ish", all the enemies must follow the rules of what was typical of the fiction of the time.

"backdrop"

Many of the mutations were a result of the airborne FEV. And, y'know, the 1950s doesn't hold ownership over monster mutants either. The pastiche of the billboards and cute advertisements promising the world of tomorrow are in stark contrast to the brutal, ugly reality of the world humanity has made for itself.

Somebody at NMA also made an important distinction. "It Came From Outer Space" and "Mutant Horror From The Swamp" are two different genres, even if they are both sci-fi/horror. Aliens really have no place in the series except as jokes or marginalized flavor.

This addon looks like it will be fun to play, the sort of thing I like, so I will buy it.

There are some more updates on the wiki, a new cryo grenade, some new perks.

Also, you can return to the ship after the main quest.

There you have it, idiots are nearly completely for buying Fallout 3... Also Mikeal you f'in suck!!!!!!

its about time the trailer came out. i like the music in it, almost as good as point outlooks.

If this is out i will download it now!

ffffuuuuuu.jpg

August 3rd. my friend at work said it was coming out today

The music in that trailer was awesome, dunno about the DLC though, some nice new weapons and armor maybe. I liked the spaceman gear.

i like the variety in this game though, and now this would explain why you see all these alien power packs everywhere in the newer DLC and read some of the lore

edit: were aliens in the other Fallout games?? never played them. also we have the Fallout pack at work i'm kinda itchin to pick it up. is it worth it just to collect??

There were no canon aliens in the previous games. There was one sprite, but it was just a crashed plane.

So this is kinda.. eh, storyline wise.

Looks like we'll get another chance to destroy megaton.

You got the bomb in megaton, the enclave satelite shit from broken steel, and Im asuming you get a chance to fire the ships laser at some location.

I don't remember if there where another one.

whats that one place the enclave place where i can drop my loot off in the locker in the good campaign?? i need to remove like 300lbs of gear

so i heard a rumor this comes out at midnight, if so i will be readily available for that to happen
