Fallout 3 walkthrough with combat footage

I have never been this giddy for a game in my life. To me this game looks better than ever and I will pick it up opening day. I have a Fallout 3 desktop wallpaper and everytime I wake up and look at it I squeal like a girl. Fo real.

I guess it's a pathetic attempt at trolling.

Your money your loss.

Well, I thought the presentations the Bethesda guy showed were pretty poor to be honest.

I still think it'll be a decent game, but seriously - running around blasting things pretending it's the next Call of Duty, with that god-awful music in the background probably wasn't the best way to showcase the game. I'd of preferred it if the player was just kitted out with a crappy pistol or something near the start of the game, and he went around showing off the enviroments and crap like that. And seriously, Bethesda need to get a new animator. :p

I wanted some NPCs, damnit.

Like, ones you could talk to.

That's the thing I'm really worried about.

Well I gauruntee there will be a music mod.

I'll go ahead and start ripping Deus Ex music for Fallout 3. :D

Maybe we should start with ripping music from the previous Fallouts?

Mikael is awesome, and is completely right about Fallout 3.

New Gameplay Video

One of the biggest things I was wondering about was how your aim is affected by your gun skills during real-time FPS. If you watch this video when hes trying to fire on the raider on the bridge, you can clearly see his cross-hair is directly on her. Yet not all of the shots hit her when he fires, the majority of the shots taken actually miss her. The only time he hits her is when the red bar appears in the middle it seems. I think thats evidence that this it's not just a mindless shooter, you actually do depend on your gun skills to have a better chance at hitting your targets. Which basically means that combat does have certain RPG elements in it during FPS play.

As I keep seeing more footages, I'm starting to become more and more accepting to this game. The only thing I'm still unsure about is whether it should be called Fallout 3 and not Fallout:Something.

Fallout: Bethesda

Fallout: Oblivion

That was pretty easy. Who's going to help me hunt down the Von Breum source code? Apparently Black Isle was near completion of that before it went under.

I really hope they release more gameplay vids. I mean all they've had was that one, the E3 stage demo and that interview if you can count that becuase they showed a little gameplay.

^ Beat me to it.

Just randomly crouched and did **** all while the player launched stuff at it. Not to mention they move around and generally act like spastics. Hell, replace one of the raiders gear with some fur armour and an axe, and you've got a bandit from Oblivion. Same animations and everything.

The more I see of this game, the more it looks like a total conversion for Oblivion.

That can't be right. The raider didn't even move which suggests it's stuck or something. Beth really don't have a ****ing clue as to how to show off their games. It wouldn't surprise me if one of their problems is a lack of skilled QA staff. I always joke that companies should hire me for QA because half the shit that gets into final releases these days makes me want to cry.

I think this game would be great if it clangs to more Stalker-style. The gameplay it has now totally sucks.

p.s. stop reposting the same extended trailer again and again and again.

Van Buren. You might want to check out an 'demo' (alpha) of the game floating around the net. Very buggy and I personally didn't like the feel of it. I don't like 2D to 3D conversions. Thena gain it was just in alpha stage so maybe it looked better later on.

The presentations are crap, but I remember the videos they released each day during the week before Oblivion's release and they were pretty awesome. Especially the "1 week to go" one. I was so hyped for the game after seeing that and I rarely am.

It's looking worse than the previous vid.

To me it actually looks like the junk doesn't even reach the enemy, so he went into the turn-based mode to make sure it hit.

And they're still using that stupid camera that points at your face when you're shooting an enemy...

Just a question: how can you be so sure about what the gameplay will be like judging some simple trailer? I hear a lot of talking about enemy AI, weapons, combat mechanics. Maybe we should wait for a demo, shouldn't we? ;-)

EDIT: Am I so dumb to have missed an official demo? ...

"Demo" as in "demonstration" as in "the devs play it for you in a video and you watch."

No, it isn't a simple trailer. It's a carefully selected promotional material that is accepted by the developers as indicative of their game's quality.

Well, I've gotta say... these gameplay videos are damn disappointing.
Pretty graphics and gimmicky features does not a good game make.

Also, since when would firing a ****ing teddy bear at anything do any damage?
And why is the AI so retarded in that sits there not doing ANYTHING?

I remember how many times I was told I was a blind zealot and a fanboy for criticizing F3... now it turns out I was and am right.

How ironic.

In your own mind, Mik. ;) I'm fine with what I see. Barring the possible exposure of some atrocious NPCs/interactions, that is.

I'm pretty sure the bandit was crouching and not moving like that is becasue he shot it in the leg or knee when he sprayed it with that machinegun and crippled it.

Why isn't he shooting then? All he does is crouch there like a retard. Which is implausible, since he's putting weight on the crippled leg moreso than when he would be standing.

IMMERSHUN.

TBH half an hour was more than enough time for me to discover that the dialogue in Oblivion stank, or that the writing in Planescape was superb...

Having said that, a tiny little preview like this isn't quite the game's death knell for me.

Well it's a damn shame this game isn't delivering as I hoped it would. However, I'll still be downlo.. I mean, giving it a go.

I predict a heavy backlash from long-time fans.

Wut? Hasn't that been going on since the damn game was announced?

If you don't rage quit the game and actually play it then by rights you should buy it.

That's entirely true. But Oblivion's dialogue was clearly crap from the get-go. And in absence of some concrete examples for me to base an assessment off of, I still need to see what FO3 is capable of at a bare minimum level. Fallout's pretty expansive with many different locales, and so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt to improve along the way so long as it demonstrates a bit of promise.

He says it lacks the charm of the originals. I still need to see for myself.

I like how so many previews say "long-time fans may be disappointed". I'm thinking, what, they weren't already?

Seems we Polish have generally higher standards for gaming. ;)

I'm pretty sure the person had a melee weapon of some sort, but it's hard to tell. Maybe they were out of ammo? I know a trailer supposed to be indicative of the game's quality and whatnot, but if that's just straight gameplay footage and the game is still in development, well anything can happen.

Actually, no, the game is finished according to Toad Hubbard. Right now they're "polishing" it (so basically sitting around doing nothing). Do you honestly think they can rewrite the AI and animations in the two to five months they have left until Fall 2008? This isn't VALVe we're talking about.
