Fallout 3 walkthrough with combat footage

Dude. Those pics are sweet.

"There's a new sheriff in town! Time to die asshole."

It looks like the dialogue trees might be a bit more complex than in Oblivion, I think they are trying to make it so that you can be the good guy, the in-between guy, and the bad guy through dialogue. But that's just based on these screens and what I've heard from developer interviews, so go figure.

Pics would be even sweeter if there were environmental shadows there. Like in, I don't know, 95% of FPS in the past ten years.

That is weird. I'm pretty sure Oblivion had them - and this is the same engine (albeit a bit more pimped). Maybe they are still having performance issues so they cut them out of the demo?
Ah well, speculation, speculation, speculation. If the finished game doesn't have environmental shadows then we have a problem. Wouldn't make the game any less fun though.

Also, why is the UI blue in some of those screens? In all the other demos it's green.

They won't . The release is in Fall 2008 - do you honestly believe they will rewrite the engine to support environmental shadows?

I don't understand why there's a shadow oversight at all.

I guess we'll have to rely on modders to add environment shadows. Although, what Bethesda game hasn't needed modders to improve things?

Sedako, if modders couldn't add environmental shadows to Oblivion, what makes you think they could to Fallout 3? They both run on the same basic licensed shit-engine..

Still not enough samples of dialogue to glean much info about the quality of writing. It says a lot about the quality of the conversations in Oblivion that at first I thought 'TALK DAD' was a dialogue option...

Apart from the cryptic religious waffle from your dad (which is possibly a direct quote from scripture), none of the convo in those screenies looks especially interesting or inspired, but then I guess no game writing is ever 100% dynamite from beginning to end.

Shouldn't they demonstrate their best dialogue then?

Also:

Why did they change the appearance of this fellow from this to that? The new version scares me.

I wonder if Fallout 3 will also rely on Unofficial Patches ala Oblivion..

Who knows? I'm sure the engine has at least been updated in some way. Perhaps they've only been demoing the Xbox version that has the shadows off to increase performance. I'd love to see shadows on the PC as much as anyone, but if the rest of the game is fun, it won't bother me too much.

After seeing some more Fallout 3 screens recently I have to say that the graphics aren't that good at all, I might even go as far as saying they're ugly.

Who gives a shit about the graphics, you guys are spoiled Crysis pussies.. Stfu and play the game when it comes out, THEN judge the damn thing.

It does look amazing really, yet somehow still retains that terrible rigid feeling of Oblivion. And the NPC's... yeah, in the presentation they seem almost like lifeless unreactive zombies. Looking forward to seeing how they will polish it off.

Well I just put down money for the preorder. I can't walk past any purchase that actually comes with little figurines and stuff. I mean... dude! Figurines!

Hell, I don't even know if the game will be good. But **** it, I actually earn money now, I should probably buy my own damn games.

I dont think Dog-- has ever been in a Crysis thread here.

What? He looks exactly the same. I think the fact that the newer image is actually from a shitty camera taking a photo of a projector screen is messing with you.

I don't see why Bethesda doesn't fire their character modellers and animators. They really do have the worst NPCs in business, especially for a character driven RPG. It's ironic because I remember reading a magazine interview with some Bethesda guy about the importance of believable characters.

God damnit.

Why did Troika go out of business.

God damnit.

Wow. And I still think that HL2 has stunning graphics. Call me naive ;-)

Didn't some of the Troika employees flee to Obsidian? I'm hoping AP and the Aliens RPG will be interesting enough, but you never know...

I take back what I said about Fallout 3 being ugly now that I've seen some more screens, oh and Half-life 2 still looks awesome

I can't help but feel like I'm watching a STALKER trailer with horrible combat, and AI...
