Fallout: New Vegas just became a whole lot more awesome

Oh look, a DLC that may also include the Jelly Door, amongst other random and annoying bugs, like the giant invisible walls that block any progress! Worth 10 dollars/800 points AT LEAST.

Yes since it's made by Obsidian it might at least be interesting.

hey they can do transparent characters. I thought that was the reason why NV lacked ghosts.

They had transparent ghosts in Oblivion, it's the same engine so there must have been another reason.

Sounds kind of like SAW or some horror gameshow type deal.

Do not want.

you don't even like NV, so your opinion is invalid.

I'd play the DLC but...doesn't look all that appealing. I think I just want some shit related to making the world a better place or something. Brotherhood of Steel and Pitt were notable.

I'd like it if it weren't more broken then Black Ops.

The parts I could play WERE enjoyable, but some bug always made full main story completion impossible. I'd try it again once its patched up a good bit.

I'll be getting this game next week, are there any patches I should download beforehand?

Not really. Steam handles patches.

As for mods, I dunno. I've only played it vanilla.

Check New Vegas Nexus for the unofficial bug fix compilation.

Dead Money is written and directed by Chris-****ing-Avellone. DO WANT.

I kinda wish I had gotten the PC version so I had access to the unofficial patches.:\

But then I'd have to settle for running at incredibly low settings, draw distance etc.

For those who played on Hardcore, can anyone recommend a good build? I am looking to play all the way through on hardcore, and want to start in the most advantageous direction.

Depends on how you want to play the game... you intend to kill everyone or go for a diplomatic character? And honestly I don't think the game punishes you very much for bad builds. And the game is generally not very hard, even with hardcore enabled. So I think it doesn't even matter that much, what you do with your character.

Don't sweat it ZT, I think you'd really have to randomly choose your stats/perks to screw up your character. Hardcore mode just requires you to carry some water and food with you and/or be aware of free water sources and places to sleep.

Hardcore mode is stupid. I've played it with every character I made, and its really just lame. After the first bit, it really doesn't affect the game at all, since you're never in a position where you don't have water or food, so theres no risk at all. I was disappointed.

However the stimpacks healing over time, ammo weight, etc. are good changes.

It takes forever to die from hunger/thirst. It's just nitpicking your stats every 2 goddamn seconds.

Hardcore is fun. I actually don't like playing it the normal way, after having started on hardcore.

lollll

I'm not concerned about food and water so much, but what I am looking for is something that will make me manage my inventory more, and not pick up 5000 rounds of pistol ammo just because I can, etc. Just something more demanding on my health and not allow me to be a walking gun shop.

Yeah, it was cool at first. Then I realized it wasn't as you got further in the game.

Still probably wouldn't play it normal though.

so if your saying it should even more "hardcore" then I agree...game is way to easy in terms of survival and hydration etc.

Strange, I haven't heard anything about the "Dead Money" DLC, is it still on track for a late December release? I still don't know if I am going to pick it up right away.

Oh man, that trailer looked good. I hope that comes to PC.

It's 360 exclusive. It'll come out eventually for PS3 and PC though.

The big console patches have been released. 360 one was out yesterday. PS3 was last week. Fixes alot. Will probably start a new playthrough soon.

Huh, apparently Dead Money also comes out on Disc as well. Guess they're going the Bethesda route.

I just got New Vegas. How long does it last? I'm 13 hours in and I'm at:

... the underground bunker about to Upgrade/Destroy the army.

I think it took me longer to get to that point. Are you doing subquests, or just following the main quest and subquesting when necessary?

The main quest is somewhat short, to be honest. You weren't supposed to be focusing completely on it.

You should try to avoid options to ignore/skip factions and quests, it's a waste of game hours.(at least from my experience)

I still cant decide if its longer or shorter than FO3, but it certainly feels bigger. And yeah, once I knew what the final quest was, I ignored it and used a wiki to try and complete all the side missions etc. Doesnt seem to be taking as long as FO3 did.

And is it just me, or does the first DLC look really rubbish?

I'm betting this first DLC is just downright horrible. I'm sure Obsidian is following Bethesda's path, releasing first horrible DLC, and then release another DLC that is some what less horrible.

From what I've seen so far, it just looks really lacklustre and low on content. That, or they got a high school student to make the trailer.
