Whats your favorite movie you saw this year.

I'd have to say toss up between Bubba Ho-tep, RotK EE, Shaun of the Dead (and I'll say Spiderman 2 even though I ain't watched it just yet :p)

... jeez... ive seen no movies :| im gonna go with "Dawn of the Dead" because it's the only new movie ive seen in the cinema this year.....

Return of the King: Extended Edition

Just finished watching it about 20 minutes ago, and I thought that it was far superior to the theatrical version. It would have been perfect if only they'd left out the avalanche of skulls and all that.

The Italian Job was pretty good..

/me brings forth the movie tickets.

So was dawn of the dead. And ROTK, and tDaT

Agreed, the extra footage really made it far more enjoyable, answered a lot of questions and fit perfectly. Oh and the mouth of sauron was perfect, very creepy and the whole scene made a huge difference.

The skulls were a bit strange but I suppose made sense in a way.. just looked a tad weird heh.

Oh yes, the Mouth of Sauron was incredibly well done, I can't see why it wasn't in the theatrical version. Another scene I particularly enjoyed was the showdown between the Witch-King and Gandalf. It was done so, so well. My one problem in the original with the Witch-King was that he seemed weak, and was easily defeated. After his face-off with Gandalf though, well, that put the weakness to rest.

Hehe yeah that was another one of the scenes I was looking forward to (as was the bit near the start at Isengard) I like the sound FX used too, like the bit near Minas Morgul and then with the Witch King, hard to explain but sounds great

Did you notice the horse in that scene too? Often you can tell they aren't reacting properly cause of the obvious CG stuff not being there, but they had Shadowfax behaving like the fellbeast was right there infront of it. Really helped make it more realistic.

The extra scenes with the Steward and Faramir made a difference too, in all it was far far better. So glad I've finally got all three, been a long wait but atlast got them all on the shelf and the very cool Minas Tirith model, though I dunno where to put that yet lol.

hmm, I got that as well, soon as I got five hours to blow then I'm gonna watch it.

I'd say Dawn of the Dead, just an excellent remake.

I saw Pulp Fiction for the first time this year though, and that was excellent.

Open Water
Torque
I, Robot

The Bad:

The Ugly:
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Alien Versus Predator

Shaun of The Dead!!!
oh and both Kill Bills

Day after tommorow was the worst film

Resident Evil: Apocalypse was a good mindless killing flick. The Day After Tomorrow was absolutely horrible, and AvP was decent.

Joule, you're wrong :p

How come only qck and myself appreciate the work of art that is LotR's

You people who pick Matrix and other sillyness suck :p

Those who picked Shaun of the Dead/Spiderman 2 rock though :)

I saw Shaun of the Dead two days ago, it's funny as hell! Is it a bit disturbing that I not only recognized the game that they were playing to be TimeSplitters (the first one) and that the "Player Two has Entered the Game" and "Player Two has Left the Game" sounds are not from the game?

I love Lord of the Rings, I really do, but I can't sit through each of them more than 3 times each; after that, I'll never see it in it's entirety again. That's what it's proved so far, at least.

I didn't do the day long LotR marathon, but I plan to, watch the lot of them one after another, full extended versions. I could just watch LotR's again and again without getting bored of it, only reason I haven't watched the other two the past few months was waiting for the third in all its glory.

Shaun of the Dead was great, lots and lots of references to the Romero flicks, and I loved that they used the same music lol.

And I've just finished watching Spiderman 2... the ending was just how I hoped it would be :D:D:D

Not all are movies that came out this year, but (some) movies I saw this year:

Favorite movie of all time: Pitch Black

Good:
Troy
Chronicles of Riddick
The Professional
LOTR

Bad:
Saw
Anaconda
Matrix 1-2-3 (Decent, but not epic, as it's portraid to be)
Uhh, yeah...

Saw is horribly overrated, I don't know why people like it so.

Best
Spidey 2
Exorcist Beginning

Medium
Dawn of the dead
Bourne Supremacy
the day after tomorrow

Bad
AvP(compared to all other aliens movies and predator movies it is)
Saw

Shaun of the Dead, The original Dawn of the Dead (the remake blows) I, Robot, Kill Bill 1/2, Probably otheres that I can't really remember...

The Motorcycle Diaries
Whatever your stance on Che Guevara, see this film. It is so superb, so perfect, in every single way I just can't contain myself. Beautifully shot; wonderfully acted; done respectfully and passionately; occasionally very funny, but in a genuine, human way not in a silly way; it's moving and the lead is so stunning he'd give most straight guys funny feelings in their tummies. Ooof.

Shaun of the Dead ws fantastic, of course.
Hero was also amazing.

Aliens Versus Predator was such a travesty of a film it's unbelievable. Surely you'd have to TRY to f*ck up such an obviously brilliant combination, but they managed it. It was so dire and I don't think I've ever been to see a film where, at the end, almost all the audience walked out muttering about how poor it was. Even after the atrocity that was The Perfect Storm I heard someone saying how much they liked it.
Whoever wins, we lose... How very fitting.

Shaun of The Dead, Casshern, Ong Bak, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence - none of which i saw in theaters, screw hollywood
all of them were awesome in their own right, wish they'd bring Casshern to the States already, and Ong Bak too, people deserve to see them in theaters, at least i think i do

Shaun of the Dead, hands down. Any movie that can successfully blend romantic comedy and zombie horror and make it GOOD is pure genius.

Human traffic: sounds a bit like a porn film.

The best film i saw this year (in the cinema) was Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind....

Open Water, my word, that was utter shite. Most Boring film of the year.

ROTK extended :)

I'm suprised by how many ppl rate Eternal Sunshine ...... I had difficulty not nodding off to that one (which is odd - that type of usually being my cup of tea)

The movies I was most looking forward too - Matrix 2&3, I Robot and Troy - all turned out to be bags of shite :/)

Shaun of the Dead was good - but still not as funny as the average episode of Spaced.

Not a particularly good year for movies when looking back at it. Ho hum, horses for courses an all that.

Kill Bill vol. 1 or 2
Kill Bill 2

When she FINALLY meets Bill. That was so good, and done so well. I actually thought the guy wasn't all that bad.

and Collateral was really good as well. Tom Cruise was awesome

Liked: Ghost in the Shell 2, Kill Bill vol. 2, SAW, Eternal Sunshine, and there's probably a lot more that I can't think of right now.

HATED: The Day After Tomorrow (HORRIBLE), Chronicles of Riddick, Dawn of the Dead, Van Helsing
