It's a photo from Willdo who visited VALVe. Looks like the boxart is as good as finished and the game won't be far away from us :naughty:

ow yeah, the game is getting even better so close to the release!!!!
I LOVE FINETUNING :naughty:

I think i have seen the server room more often that gabe has by now... =)

picking up stuff with your hands makes sense! Why should gordon pick up stuff only with teh manipulator? woot! \o/

EDIT: Wow the weather in seattle looks shitty.. I thought we were having a bad summer..

Can't we just keep it all in one thread? And it was known that that would be the boxart since the Belgians visited Valve...

Wildo says : I was mainly picking up boxes and cans and throwing
them around. Not only do you have to use the physic gun to lift up
stuff, but you can use your hands to pick up different things like
trash cans, luggage, cans, etc.

SO you can throw stuff with your hands also? O__O

The boxarts are very nice and moody. Good stuff.

The menu screen I've heard should make total droolage too - according to Willdo and Eat fresh. They say it's rendered in real-time with a buildings and landscape and stuff moves in it (e.g. birdsa, cars,e.tc.)

Notice there's no mention of multiplayer anywhere, including the system requirements.

Hmm....

^^^^No its not. That would complete stupidty. Noone would buy it because they want the game as soon as any version is released, and they wouldnt buy 2.

Also, sif youd buy the alyx one. Its all Gorden.

Hmm....

Notice how the ESRB rating says "RP"....wait OMG11!!1 HL2 IS LIeK Unrateable!11!!

Chillout, it still needs to be modified a bit with the rating and some more stuff. :hmph:

So sweet. So finaly they went for a black box instead of white. Hmmm cool :naughty:

um I think this is really weird, but why didnt they fix this old beta picture ???

The NPCS are really early they just added them enf real quick to get a quick pic for the press ... Why did they put it on the box ????

...Uhm....Well.... they could've....errrm, maybe they like it? You do have a point there, the models look like from CS, if not, worse. They could make a few changes to the boxart, but I think that's very unlikely. It looks good this way and they already printed it out in HQ, including all the logos (from Vivendi and the rating-logo).

Too bad. I really liked the faked boxart a lot better. Ofcourse unless it's crap I will be getting the collectors edition anyway, so...

Have you ever looked at any game boxes? They all have really old screenshots, or really old information. The Freelancer box refers to a place called "New Florida" which isn't even in the game.

Half-life had pictures of old beta versions. The barney running across a dead beta-zombie, the soldier interrogating a group of scientists etc.

On the CE coming out a little later then the games initial release:

I think you'd find that sadly, a lot of people would indeed buy 2 copies of the game...Ploys like this are commonplace these days - its called clever marketing !

Not sure. I certainly don't give a flying puck what the box looks like.

I'd even buy it if it looked like this.

W00t.. cool.. they should have made it like that.. HL² doesn't need some fancy box art.

By the looks of it, it's one of them DVD sized cardboard boxes, unless Gabe has really huge hands. But those kind of boxes own! The ideal mix between the size of a DVD case and the coolness of a big cardboard one! I've got Ravenshield, Vice City and Morrowind in one of these boxes. And they're ideal for multiple cd's.

At least, I hope the upper image is the size for the European one (I assume the cases underneath are big boxes for the US market) and we don't get one of those shitty DVD cases where they stuff as many cd's in it as physically possible.

Hey I happen to like those "shitty DVD cases" they take less space and collect less dust.

Not if it comes on 4 CDs, it's annoying because you get 1 CD that fits in the case and the rest just come in paper CD holders.

They should use these DVD cases

Those paper slip things suck wang extremely hard.

Actually I don't mind at all, BF:V came with two paper sleeve cd holders and it didn't annoy me one bit, besides you just use one of the cds when the game's installed so it's not like you'd notice anyway ;)

The size... yes. But that is where my beloved hybrids come in, like the box of Raven Shield: http://www2.finna.is/myndform/upload/images/tolvuleikir/raven_shield_box.jpg

It's the size of a DVD case, but from cardboard and with opening 'flap' and it's ideal for multiple cd's.
From the looks of it, the upper case Gabe is holding is one of these hopefully meant for the European market (I understand Americans still have bix boxes), and that would own.

Is that the Collectors-edition box?

I'm sure it's not, and personaly, I'm not suprised that it's nowhere to be seen. After all, Vavle are keeping details of HL2:CE a secret, so they surely wouldn't allow outsiders to see it until it's ready...

Am I the only one who can't get onto HL2Central.net?

Does anyone else notice the boxes were printed on 11th of May, That was like 2 months of ago wierd huh.
