The_Monkey said:moppe, you live by Torne Träsk? I've been there! It's beautiful.
moppe said:Agreed, I live on a sluttning (swedish) of one of the mountains, I have perfect view over the village, Lapp-porten and Abisko.
You saw the pics in the other thread?
The_Monkey said:Yeah, those should drag some tourists over there, I was in Abisko in the summer, so there was a lack of nordic light, but it doesn't matter, I've seen it before. :E
Matthias said:One thing I'm not looking forward to is when the pavement freezes over and it takes me 45 minutes to get up the hill to uni...
moppe said:Take a snowmobile.
moppe said:I just came off the sat-phone with my friends back in Sweden, it's snowing. They started a webcam from the mountain, and oh.
Parrot of doom said:Its frigging freezing here in Manchester.
JiMmEh said:lol, somehow I can't imagine seeing a bloke on a snowmobile charging up a hill in England, can you?
Farrowlesparrow said:Its been about 14 degrees C hasn't it?
I wouldn't say freezing, I'd say it was refreshing. Cold enough to keep you alert at least...Then again, where i used to live we got quite a lot of snow. I also rather enjoy snowboarding, and so I guess I'm just that kind of person.
I would love for it to snow more this year...
Heh, that would be one of those classic moments of university life I think...
<RJMC> said:I never feel the snow
well my country is tropical but are places that are cold but the only place whit snow is the Bolivar peak that is the tallest of my country,is like 5000 meters
I want to feel the snow
moppe said:No offense, but it's fun to see people just like you traveling up here, to see the snow. And when they come, with a standard jacket that they bought in their homecountry that the salesman said would be more the enough.
<RJMC> said:thanks for the warning
I heard that you need wear some special glases cuz the light refletecd in the snow can hurt your eyes
is true?
Varg|Hund said:No snow here yet (Östergötland), damn cold though.
This is the worst part of the autumn, the damn cold in the mornings. It's really hard to get out of bed
Varg|Hund said:Not hitting the -'ses yet, but getting there. There's frost at least
Pogrom said:All you lucky people with snow. We've just come out of winter here in sydney.
Clear blue skies, slight breeze, 18-25C days.
Now we're headed for summer:
Clear blue skies, slight breeze, 35-40C days.
Not a hell of a lot of variation there, except for the temp.
moppe said:Sounds boring.
Alot of variation in Lappland due to the sub-artic climate.
Summer: clear blue skies, slight breeze, 20-25 day and night. 24 hour sun.
Winter: alot of clouds, blizzards, wind depends, -20-55C day and night. 24 hour night.
Well, so do we. But that is always over the mountains, it don't get down in the valley.Pogrom said:hehe, your summer is our winter.
We get the occasional rain, and the occasional summer thunderstorm.
But (noticed especially after travelling overseas) the sun is shining almost all the time.

Where South? Skåne, or further up?Farrowlesparrow said:Wow...
I always did want to go to Sweden. Maybe I will, since my brother is marrying a girl from there...she is from the south though, and I wanna see the mountains and the almost perpetual night time
Varg|Hund said:Where South? Skåne, or further up?
And yeah, you've got to visit Norrland sometime Farrow. During hunting season perhaps?
