Holy shit. This is some of the most addictive finger-mashing fun I've ever had.

It's like Guitar Hero, apparently. Not that I ever played that game. It involves holding down the right frets, then hitting the pick key as the note moves underneath the fret. My description can't do it justice.

Also there's a youtube video if anyone wants to see it in action here. That duke song is a 3rd party one btw. And the guy playing it isnt the best, but you get the idea. Its sooo fun. What me and my friends have been doing is starting the same song at exactly the same time on two pc's, then having head to head guitar (keytar?) battles. Awesome fun.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention - it's freeware!

I should try this out. its probably better with my wireless keyboard...but nothing beats the plastic guitar controller that guitar hero has.

it IS guitar hero, but a cheaper/crappier looking version...

It may not have a fancy guitar controller, but how cool would you look doing this? It uses the f1-5 keys for frets, so you hold your keyboard upside down. Heh im gonna go play E1M1 (doom music) again.

I put it to the frets as asdfg and the left arrow key as strum.

How ghetto..you don't lose your multiplier if you don't hit the wrong beat. You can just not push a button and keep your multiplier..but if you push the wrong button, you lose it.

I was wondering how I was nailing those solos without trying.. \=

Yeah that way you can make a call between keeping your multiplier, or trying to nail the solo and get more points, at the risk of losing it. I never played/heard of guitar hero though, untill I saw this. I can imagine its not as groundbreakingly awesome for those of you who have played it.

I re-bound my frets to 12345 instead of the F keys, cause my keyboard puts a gap between f3 & f4. I tried going back to using the keyboard like in normal games, but I lost all my ability & mojo when I did that. Playing upside down FTW.

Also don't hold down strum. My friend did that for like 3 whole songs, and was puzzled as to how he didnt hit a single note. Then I noticed where he was going wrong.

3rd party songs can be found here. Some are really well made, like "Aki Latvamäki - Rambo Sankari" whereas some don't have all difficulties, or are insanely hard, or just dont match up the notes with the song, at all.

I think this is pretty fun, though nothing in comparison to the plastic guitar.

Some people on the forums say that AVG recognises it as a virus, but it's not. I use "avast!" virus scanner and it didn't pick anything up. Fun game, but it'd be cool if it supported .mp3 import instead of .ogg. I can't be bothered to convert.

I played Guitar Hero for a short time at my friend's house. Was kind of neat, I like beat-based games. The guitar got kind of annoying.

But this is really awesome!
