Futurama is Back

I loved them. I felt a little weird watching them, like disappointment wanted to creep over me, but I just told myself, "It's ****ing futurama.."

When I rewatched each of them 3 more times the same night, they felt just like any other Futurama episode rerun... which is a good thing.

I liked how they showed the last movie beforehand, which cleanly moved into the first new episode. Pretty funny stuff, overall. Though the Zap/Leela eden thing kinda creeped me out...

The new Futurama series should replace Family Guy on Fox now. Only cause Futurama is actually funny...

Yeah, a bit unsettling. But I did have a thought about that, especially the ending.

It seems that, throughout the series/movies, whenever Fry and Leela get close, something always happens to cause them to drift apart again. And with the very end of (new) episode 2, Fry witnessed the horrid act of Zaps and Leela's "coupling". So, will this basically set them back to where they were in the original series? On a side note, I loved the Professors disgust at there lovey-dovey shit

I hope your spoiler is wrong. Seems like at the end of the movie/beginning of this new series, they were FINALLY hooking up. Especially after the alternate universe episode and Lars in the first movie...I want Fry to be happy.

well, its just speculation. I could be wrong, but...

did you not see the end of episode 2? Fry basically had to watch Leela and Zap get it on, with him screaming "censor it!" (only to get a "approved for all audiences!"... lol'd hard at that part).

Yeah, I watched it. Some interesting stuff going on in that episode...

You know... one bad thing about Futurama returning... I had to lose Futurama once, and now I'll have to lose it all over again.

But until that day arrives...

The only problem I see with the new season starting is that now I need...

MORE.... MORE.... MORE

There voices were odd? Just got done watching the 2 episodes and I didn't notice anything.

But they were great. Actually laughed at Benders "coma" scene

yeah, they're deffo different. as krunn (or someone) said earlier in the thread, it's most likely because of the hiatus. i can tell the difference, notably in the professor, hermes and bender. it's still them obviously, they just sound a little different to me. it's no biggie.

New episode seemed a bit lacking.

It's still Futurama, but I agree... I wasn't too enthused by the heavy dose of relatively recent pop subjects. Hopefully all the episodes won't be heavy on it. Futurama was always about pop culture references, but they were done quite a bit better.

Oh crap. Now I have to wait 2 hours for it to come on again! :p

That was a really good episode. Well, I liked the beginning a lot at least.

Dumb bastards.

I had to wonder why the lack of creativity on Mom's part. She always has such a colorful use of language and rarely repeats the same thing twice... let alone three or four times in succession.

Crapspackle!

She was just a little nervous about her evil plan. YOU DUMB BASTARD.

The zombie build up at the end was hilarious when her plan was revealed to just to get people to buy more.

I thought the episode was good. Even though it was full of recent pop culture references, I don't think its anything too far from what they've done in the past. I mean, they had episodes featuring Lucy Lu bot, as well as Beck, the actors from Star Trek, Al Gore, etc... not to mention the entire episode that was a Titanic parody. It felt like a regular Futurama episode to me. And I loved the joke about
Susan Boyle

Overall the new episode was awesome to me. I think futurama is really delivering again.

Best part...
“So long, overly complicated Japanese toilet!” – Leela
“Please. Not throw away. I give you … happy poopy time.” – Toilet
“Sorry, you know too much.” – Fry

Yeah, that bit was great. The whole beginning was quite silly and had me laughing.

I'm going to gun through this whole hilarious show I've never watched before. Nearly done with Season 1.

How could you have never watched this before? Reruns have been playing over and over again for years.

Yeah, but you can't compare characters from an old TV series to Susan Boyle in terms of recent pop phenomenon.

I don't know. I mean, I love Futurama, but there will always be an episode I rate the weakest, and for me that's this one by a big margin.

Yeah, Futurama has never really been about pop culture references for me. I mean, obviously it has them, but they're never a strong point for the show. When they do their own humor its much funnier. Its pretty much the opposite of South Park.

really? even more than the blernsball ep?

edit: and yeah, they usually dont do recent pop culture references, but there are a few exceptions... Chef Elzar (Emeril Lagasse), The iron chef episode, etc.

It is by far the worst episode of the series. I like the blernsball episode, if you're talking about the one with Leela.

I am reasonably satisfied with the episodes I have seen. Overall I would rate it a C+, OK, not great.

Good news everyone; I thought the first episode was pretty bad (although - still Futurama!), but it was just staging things for the season, so that's understandable. 3rd was by far the best.

Stop being wrong, everyone. The first one was some sort of test subject on a budget. Working out the rusty kinks.

The first episode was by far the best. I laughed like a mother ****er when Zapp crashed his ship for some reason.

Well I have seen chunks of episodes with my friends before and I've caught some while randomly channel flipping, but I rarely absently watch TV, I usually just watch specific shows. Also, you are a fat and your name is Krnn.

So are you saying you won't kill them, but neither will you share your recipe for immortality with them?

Damn i need to go outside more...

For your information, it's because you're hideous.

The first five minutes of the second episode is the best thing Futurama's done so far this year.

"My instinct is to hide in this barrel, like the wily fish!"
