Surely if Gabe wins, and the person offering this hasn't actually got the goods, he's commited 2 fairly serious crimes? Fraud and offering "stolen" goods, that is.

Well can you really steal a company? It is pretty heavy I am sure and plus to do it while no one is looking is no easy task.
 
I think that the maker of this "thing" is an over-hyped fan who cant wait for HL 2 anymore..thats my opinion!
 
lol, valve should give the winner a free copy of HL2... pretty expensive though.

And for some reason I have this mental picture of Gabe grabbing an annoying reporter by the shirt and saying 'Would you like to see my KNIFE collection?' in a phsyco voice with bugged-out eyes. That would be so funny...

The current high bidder is a smurf. Basically it's the guy who's selling it with a different username, because he knows he kinda got 'caught', and doesn't want to actually defraud someone...because, ya know, he'll go to jail.
 
lol, why is everyone taking this so seriously? If the seller fails to provide the item as stated in the auction, the transaction is invalid. Obviously this is fake(as we ALL know), so this is in good fun. Unfortunetely, I was out-bid. :(

Noone will go to jail for this. This isn't the first time people have put stuff on eBay like this. I bid on a Russian missile about a year ago! The problem was, the auction was deleted due to legal implications, lol.

nah, no one will go to Jail, as long as no money or item exchanges hands where one party is conned out of the agreed deal then it's all just in good fun.

The seller may get banned from e-bay for a while though.

With all Gabe's knives, I'm surprised that there isn't one in HL2 as a weapon.
 
Anybody know why the bid is capped at £10,000,000.00? I really want this company....I figure after Half-Life 2 is released, I can break even within half-an-hour!

Perhaps because that was the newest released game? Perhaps because the general consensus was that HalfLife2 and Doom3 have been in competition from the start? Perhaps because you're a humorless twit that feels like you're ego has been crushed because of some e-bay listing?

Armadillo Aerospace? That's his company that was working to win the X-Prize, right? What happened? I've got to hear how this went down. The idea of Carmack funding an aerospace project is pure hilarity. Given, the man is a genious, but game programmer to aerospace? Doesn't sound like a transition that would go well.
