Armadillo Aerospace? That's his company that was working to win the X-Prize, right? What happened? I've got to hear how this went down. The idea of Carmack funding an aerospace project is pure hilarity. Given, the man is a genious, but game programmer to aerospace? Doesn't sound like a transition that would go well.

I have tremendous respect for John Carmack and his team. Granted, as of now, his team is only grasping at the dream, strides must be made in order to ensure any sort of progress. If anyone can successfully create a commercial aerospace-craft, John Carmack is the man to do it(why the hell not?).

Check out the site here, specifically the story about the launch failure(the first clip is the actual crash):

Towards the end of the article, John makes a hiliarious reference to Doom III.

xrdanielalan, Thanks for the welcome ^^. I've actually been here for quite a while, but there's not much for me to post on here so I usually just read them.
And Some_God, I don't know what show you're speaking of. I got my username from these books.

I've been visiting these forums since conception...only registered to view an attachment(the first magazine scan), lol. ;) Never posted until recently(as have you) because of similar reasons. I dunno, as much of an avid HL-fan I am, the need to post, oddly enough, is limited. I feel the amount of people here at any given moment is overwhelming an whatever I have to state will transpose. Anyway, enjoy your stay.

EDIT: I think the self-proclaimed 'god' was referring to a Fox show that failed to catch on...or...the character on the show "Angel"...nay, who cares.

He's been a rocket enthusiest for years before that I hear.
Wouldn't you get sick of watching people do something the wrong way after a while?
So he stepped in to show them how it's done. :)

I try to read all the news at armadillo aerospace every few weeks or so. It's good stuff. :)

So that's what John Carmack does when he isn't wasting his talent on overrated games...
