Gears of War 2 Gameplay

looks pretty. the body shield thing is a new thing isn't it?(only played the first gears very shortly at a "friend's" place)

That is amazing. The graphics look heavily updated, and that level was pretty epic. Too bad I don't have a console
 
Don't worry, they'll create a superior PC port after the console release.

As for the gameplay video, it shows just a few flashes from the game, but it looks good. Not a significant upgrade or anything over the original GoW, but still, not insignificant enough to call it "more of the same".

Nice, I'll pick it up for sure. I hope it has more replay value in the SP. Gets tedious. New weapons look nice. That was one thing the original failed at, I used the Lancer virtually 90% of the time. Graphically it looks amazing.

I lol'd when the Brumak's face got mushed.

Holy cow! That looks.... exciting. It really packs the action in. The amount of Locust on screen there was impressive.

Chainsaw duels, body shields, neck snapping, brumakS (wtf?!)... really looking forward to this one.
 
Cool, Elephants from Halo 3. Give or take.

Don't really mind though as it looks fantastic anyway. Really enjoyed GOW, even it's gung-ho story, so I'm really looking forward to this. Hopefully the battles are going to be bigger and less linear this time around.
 
Eh, not particularly excited, but it looks fun. Seems like they're pulling a bit of an Ubisoft sequel to be honest, keeping the core game intact and just making minor graphical improvements and additions to gameplay. Not necessarily a bad thing, but probably not worth full price if the length of the first game's campaign is anything to go by. I'll wait and see if the multiplayer has been significantly improved upon, otherwise it'll be a rental.
 
COOP was insane in Gears will be picking this up for sure.
 
those flying "things" look strangely familiar - they just look the same as the ones in Crysis

New weapons noticeably noticed:

Some weird auto-psitol, the lancer now has a little iron sight thing on it we won't use, and a slow firing rifle as well...can't wait!
 
*sigh* I'm sick of the matrix ripoff flying devices seen in just about every video game these days. I guess something needs rippling tentacles in order to fly.

That slow firing rifle is actually a redesigned version of the Locust Hammerburst from the first game. Instead of a three round burst it has a full auto capability, but it seems to be much more powerful. I'm more interested in the story more than anything though, since we're supposed to find get two more squad members (a cowboy and a Native American) and assist Dom in finding his wife Maria, whom he briefly mentioned in the first game (she's hot btw).

I loved the first GoW a whole lot so i'm very very excited. I loved that human shield he pulled and I spotted a couple new weapons.

Absolutely. Although the co-op in GoW was a bit buggy, it was still great fun.

Considering how well 4 player co-op was implemented in Halo 3 I can really see it happening with Gears 2.

I hope so, Gears of War kinda failed with that other chick....kinda. needs moar romance.

Does saying that make the long game droughts easier to manage? ;)


I can't wait for GoW 2, especially the multiplayer.
 
Gears did almost nothing for me except sit there and look pretty. This looks to change that I hope. I just got so bored of the "mission" in the first one. Let's hope that there is a little more to grab my attention in this one. It is such a shame in life when the prettiest things are also the most boring. :O

You hate Epic games for trying to survive in todays videogame market? keep in mind that your beloved Valve also ported half-life 2 to consoles (not like that's a bad thing, but whatever).

Anyway, from what I've seen so far, this look pretty generic. I'm sure it'll be fun to play, but it doesn't look like they're bringing much new to the table, which is a shame. Looks like it should be an expansion pack rather than a sequel.
 
I think there was a really good core of awesomeness to Gears, so keeping that and building more on it seems like a good move to me, and looks exactly like what they're doing.

Long game droughts? I don't know what kind of retardese food you eat, but I have more than enough games in my closet to keep me entertained for the next ten years, though I enjoy replaying those I already played through. For instance: Panzer General, Theme Hospital, Crime Cities, Dungeon Keeper 1&2...

That's primarily due to me putting quality over entertaining oneself continously with new drugs.
