that is interesting. Now let the wild accusations about the ATI guys account being abbused also. Perhaps his password was "Radeon"

Its logical to guess anyway, they need to be going gold soon to ship by the expected release date. Especially since they need to do like 100 million copies to meet demand :p

mhh, we'll see. gold status next week would be pretty nice i guess :p

Actually I'd be terribly shocked if it sold more than 1.5million in the first week. :p

This is hard to believe, allthough he sounds pretty confident: "We would have gladly informed ATI fans WHEN WE FOUND OUT A FEW WEEKS AGO, but we much rather like to keep our relationship with Valve nice."

That guy is screwed if the gold announcement doesn't appear next week.

Anyway, we'll see what happens, I will hold my breath 50%

It's nice to think that it's possible it can go gold next week but it doesn't seem likely to me.. Especially after all this bs.

omg ur mocking us all :(
lol j/k :)

but seriously...only the smart pple will believe any gold announcement now is when it actually happens.
plus remember what i said about taking all news with a grain of salt?
yeah...it might help :p

Maybe Valve told him: "We are going gold end of this month, don't tell anyone".
But when the guy saw that Gabe posted it went gold he said "Valve told me a couple of weeks ago". So wen can conclude that HL2 is going gold next week! :D

I don't know what to say, believe it or not :dozy:

Wait and see

i was actually laughing out loud when I read this, guess i have a stupid sense of humor,.,..

I think someone in an official position would use more than a vague forum post to make an announcement like that. So either he doesn't know anything, or its true.

what did he find out a few weeks ago tho? how can valve say 'oh yeah it will be gold in 3 weeks' if its down to the publisher to decide and they dont know how many bugs they could find over the next 3 weeks. I hope it does go gold next week but i doubt it.

I'm not gonna keep my hopes up for anything, and I suggest no one else should, incase of potential dissapointment.

I don't think Vivendi would hold Half-Life 2 back, they probably want it out as much as we do.

He wasn't announcing it, he had thought that the official announcement had already been made (by "gabe" at hl2fallout)... he was just confirming it on the side..

In my opinion it wouldnt surprise me if it went gold next week, i mean valve have been saying they are ironing out bugs and tweaking gameplay for a quite a while now(at least since e3 since doug lombardi did state they had finished the game and were tweaking it). I doubt they said any exact date to radeon probaly just something like "oh were pretty close to what we consider to be good to go so probaly a few weeks more or so" besides its something to cheer up whats become a somewhat bitter community :)

"this bs" was just one fake announcement from gabe's account.. its still a fact that hl2 will go gold very very soon. and next week is a very likely date in my opinion.

So now it's actually turning out that the faked post at hl2fallout.com was actually a good thing, because the guy at the ATI site thought it was real, and let out information he got from Valve themselves. What a mess, who knows what is true anymore. This is drama, this is better than any soap opera on the TV.

So maybe, maybe the ATI guy was the one who faked Gabe's post! Maybe he couldn't stay quiet anymore. That way he could blame "some hacker" and tell "But I though Gabe already told ya all" !! I KNEW IT!

INDEED! This is more dramatic then when Sweden took a gold medal in the high jump a few days ago :O !

How can you predict when you're going to go Gold from more than a few days away from it? I mean... what if a new showstopper crops up?

Or when Belgium took one in tennis ;)

Agreed. I could see Gold status this week if they finish up the preloading. That'd be cool. Of course, i could also see it delayed. Whatever, it's coming soon

VALVe is bound to say something about this matter if it is false... If they keep quiet, well... :D:D:D:D:D:D

They don't have to finish preloading to go gold. They could go gold and during the time it takes to manufacture and ship the cds, they could preload the rest of the stuff. That I believe would result in a simultaneous release.

Yeah, I bet Vivendi wants it out more than Valve does. Valve just wants to finish the game, and they'll be happy. But Vivendi wants the big bucks and they've already been delayed a year

Good point...very good point. I never thought of that. That makes me think gold may be even closer. :bounce:
