Anti-freedom? Don't expose your naive way of looking at the world to us, Kore, it's simple and ugly.

I thought this was going to be more like:

Good news from our forces in Afghanistan

Enemy Bric-a-brac shut down.

Oh please. I figured you would have dropped such a ridiculous view a while ago.

Considering there was a lot of bad news coming out of there recently (chopper crash, the SEAL team losing 3 guys, 1 rescued though, etc) I thought this would be nice to post. :]

Far away from what I call good news IMO. However, if it was the winning that you meant, this I might think it's a good thing.

I felt like I needed a change. Besides, everybody hated it.

this is a good thing..

when was the last time anything was DONE in Afghanistan? or even reported?

if they are confirmed Taliban/Al-Qaeda, get the info and then waste the bastards...just my opinion...

Unless they have information I don't see the validity in that.

That's the point.. they probably would

Well, we've been doing a huge offensive the last couple months to destroy and drive out remaining pockets before they can regroup any more than they have, but it didn't get reported on. The media only started paying attention to it when a Taliban got off a lucky shot with an RPG and hit a Chinook (killed the 16 soldiers on board coming to reinforce and rescue a SEAL team that called for reinforcements)

It is nice to know that things are still moving "forward" in Afghanistan especially when the focus has primarily been with Iraq and the situation there. The biggest hotspots of Taliban activity is the border area with Pakistan which is too mountainous to really get a huge number of forces in there, which is also the most likely hiding spot for Bin Laden.

afghanistan is a huge mess

Doctors without Borders left over security concerns ..the only such time in their history ...in fact they've been in afghanistan since the russia occupation

"According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Afghanistan has the fourth highest under five mortality rate in the world. Diarrhoeal diseases are recognised as the main killer of children, caused by limited access to safe water, sanitation and poor hygiene practices."

At least 6.5 million people out of a population of between 21 and 26 million are dependent on food aid, and there is a very real risk of famine.

Afghanistan has one of the lowest life expectancies in the world - just 44.5 years.

A fifth of children die before they reach the age of five.

About two million Afghans are now living abroad, most of them in Iran and Pakistan.

In Kabul, an estimated 500,000 people are homeless or living in makeshift accommodation.

Only 40 per cent of Afghan children are vaccinated against major diseases, and just 25 per cent of the population has access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation. There is just one doctor per 6,000 people, and one nurse per 2,500 people.

Some 72,000 new cases of tuberculosis are reported every year. Women account for most TB deaths.

Up to 100 people are killed or wounded by mines and unexploded ordnance every month

Every year an estimated 400,000 Afghans are affected by natural disasters.

btw razor ...there's only 18,000 coalition troops in afghanistan ...there's over 150,000 in iraq ...between keeping the peace, providing security for the government and guarding coalition "safe" zones ..there's not many left to search for osama ...you'd think that after 9/11 they'd throw ALL their resources into finding osama

Welcome to "Why I hate Bush." Stern.

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

I don't give a flying **** about Iraq. I want Osama Bin Laden's head a ****ing pike, and I want it now.
