GTA IV Trailer coming March 29!!!

Liberty City is based on New York.

It is still Liberty City. On the back of that ship it has Liberty City written on it.

Jesus Christ, put your dummy back in your mouth! I have no idea what you're getting all pissy about, you sound like a spoilt child who's mommy bought him the wrong G.I. Joe. It's a one-minute teaser for god's sake, it isn't due out for another 8 months, they're probably working hard to get the gameplay features in.
Exactly. They're lucky they got any in-game shots at all.

As for people complaining about graphics: Well, the hypocrisy just astounds me. First of all the graphics are pretty good for a game of it's nature.
Agreed. Hence why games like Stalker, HL2 and GoW are all in small'ish self-contained areas.

I agree that the graphics are superb. The streets seemed busy with lots of yellow cabs and some other pretty nice cars driving about, there also seemed like the sidewalks had a lot of pedestrians, who are pretty detailed even though they aren't main characters.

The lighting was great, looked very realistic. Also the water seemed pretty cool, things bobbing up and down, trash gathering around the corners of the docks etc and some nice reflections.

I've grown to like the main character guy. He looks like he's had a rough past and wants to get away from it all. I hope this starts of a totally new story line separate from the GTA3 universe.

Yawn!! I used to like these games when they were played with a top down overhead view. I guess the first 3D one was kind of fun to play for about a week simply because it was new to me. After that new feeling grew stale I couldn't bring myself to play it again. Each sequel thereafter further watered the game down in my opinion to the point where I've completely given up on the series. This simply looks like more of the same. No thanks.

Hate to double post, but heres some interesting info. 5 seconds into the trailer, do you guys see that tiny tiny sign. It says "Visit Vice City - $300" - a hint that Vice City is back. Ohhhh yeahhhhh!

I love to see Vice City in next gen glory.

Also, you can see a chainsaw 47 seconds into the trailer. Look carefully.

God that would be sooo awesome. But I don't think that would happen... remember back in VC there were ads like "visit Liberty City"....iirc on a billboard near the airport. But we couldn't actually go there. I think the same thing here :(

And the word is R* are really concentrating on one ultra detailed city. Good news for the guys who wanted quality > quantity... myself included.

Edit: Looks like Game Informer Mag is running an exclusive 10 page preview of GTA4 on their May issue.

Ready your scanners!!!

I can see the chainsaw. It's on the top deck of the ship, kinda hard to see. Spinning around behind the railing.

Yay. More of the same.
Absolutely pathetic.
What? Is is!:x

Trolltastic :p

You're taking what I wrote too literally. What's wrong in wanting the driving and combat to be more excitng and a little more involved? Saint's Row improved upon the GTA formula considerably in this area and I expect Rockstar to respond. Of course there are other areas that need improving too (I touched on one of them).

If you'd read my posts you'd realise that 'more of the same' is not what I want.

I really hope they make the shooting like it was in Saints Row. Found it rather easy to aim, and I'm a guy who can't aim without a mouse usually. I can't think of a better way they could do it.

I hope they improve the absolutely shittastic combat system.

For IV, I would hope they make as many leaps and bounds as they did from GTA II to III. Otherwise, its not going to be any different than milking the franchise like they did in Vice City and those other ones.

Vice City was great IMO. San andreas was ok and had the most "alive" city, but having to take a girl on dates and watching your character be a whiny bitch in all the cutscenes is not nearly as badass as the silent killer or the miami druglord of GTA3 and VC.

First of all the graphics are pretty good for a game of it's nature, secondly it's these same people who bang on about "gameplay > graphics". No one wants a crap looking game that detracts from the experience but as long as the graphics are good enough then so-be-it.
Can you not read ?
.. get over it and stop trying to put words in our mouths.
I do prefer gameplay over graphics but if the graphics are disappointing I'll say so.
Your TV must suck if you think those are bad graphics.
Nope, I think it's just the video that's available on Live (Maybe just to Australia or something ?).

You guys sound as if I just called your family a bunch of whores and devoured one of your children, lighten up.

Not to say it wasn't fun, but I consider it to be a "milking of the franchise" as in they didn't add anything truly new to the game except a new city and a few new weapons.

If they're to release the newest edition of the franchise and call it "IV" instead of just "GTA III: __insert new name here__", then they're going to have to pull out some new concepts like they have done before. New graphics and storyline don't count, either.

apparently the character in gta4 is based on this russian actor:

I predict this will be the biggest advance in the GTA series until the next generation of consoles.

I reckon it will be the biggest advancement until the next gen too. Just as GTA3 was the biggest advancement from the previous games last gen.

After GTA4 they'll probably make some other games splitting off the story of GTA4 like they did with GTA3.

I wonder if there will be any graphical differences between the Xbox360 and the PS3? Will the PS3 cope better with it and offer less slowdown in very intense areas maybe, due to its faster processor?

Hypnosos... how many Russians have you seen in your life?
I'm Russian and don't look anything like that actor.

Well.. there's bound to be some few rare exceptions but looking at the majority, woh, identical.

Meh, maybe not. Or maybe.

How many russians I've seen? Well, actually, I don't know... I didn't count them all while I was spending time in St. Petersburg.

Ah, so you've been to St. Petersburg. Pretty close to my hometown of Petrozavosk.

Dang 42 pages allready!!!
anyways when is this game coming out i need a true date???

R* have been saying 16th October since last year. It's even on the trailer page.

19th October if you're in PAL territories.
And as Xune said, 16th for the Americans.

This is a very interesting thread about GTA IV. It seems a possible Rockstar employee gave subtle hits about the games details. The topic was made on March 11. It's defiantly a good read if you have the time. I think he made 6 posts in total. Check it out here : http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=269166

Omega, that was simulatenously awful (-10) and awesome (+10).

Here's some info from that massive thread, although I haven't read it all.

Maybe a new 7-star ratings involving spy agencies.
Animals.
Car tuning.
Flying to different cities.
Jacking cars before you can drive them.

Yeah, hotwiring is what I meant. I'm not in the car stealing business, so I don't know what jacked means :p

Ick, I am scared for the animals. Still so weird that human on animal cruelty gets to me more than human on human cruelty.

The spy notion sounds interesting though if its true....

Both of those were already in San Andreas, you are aware of that right?:p

Maybe because animals in general have a lower intelligence than most humans, and thus usually don't have as much ability to fend for themselves, some sick snobb **** over here in Sweden a few months ago were convicted for animal cruelty, he filmed it and put it on youtube, he and a few mates were at his barn that his parents own, they took the stable cat, threw it into the air, shotguned it, then again, then they picked up the corpse and threw it around, sick mother****ers make me wish I had a desert eagle to blow their brains out.
