OMG! You get DVD's with that magazine? In the North American PC gamer they still only give out CD's.

I say this because I noticed it says that there is a HL2 trailer on the DVD.

You can get most of those magazines at your bigger Borders/B&N. I use to get a lot of those "European" magazines becasue they came with "decent" free software. Granted it was a year or so old (the software) but most times it was the FULL version.

Not like the US 15 day versions but the whole software package.

He meant the larger Borders stores. Some of the smaller ones don't carry as many mags/books, while some of the larger stores carry everything you can imagine. Do you have any Borders book stores?

I meant "Big" as in size. The store name is Borders. So if you have a large Bookstore chain you may want to check them.

Dont know if it matters anything but I live in Belgium and the biggest games magazine from Belgium (Pc Gameplay) also sais they have a review next month...

Check your camera settings and or windows. You may be able to turn that "option" off.

don't worry me.. i just found it amazing that this guy knew what my camera was by looking at the photo until i had a look in the properties of it in acdsee.. its cool.. tells you everything about the photo.. i feel kinda stupid now lol...

Well, Valve were aiming to go gold in August. It's unlikely they'll do so in the next 36 hours but I reckon it'll still happen in the next 10 days.

- Valve have had a complete version of the game since May but spent the last few months polishing and perfecting it.
- I reckon the CS:S beta has interfered with the gold date but only slightly - HL2 will be worked on up until the last possible moment (and then beyond with Steam updates).
- There must have been at least 1 RC by now - another will probably be completed shortly (thus going gold).
- Magazines have no doubt been given review copies (which are 99.99% complete) so its highly likely that on Sept 22nd, PCPP and other mags will be publishing reviews.

They definately did not have nearly enough time from when the fake announcement was made to when they could have released the magazine with that ad in it. The magazine was probably finished and ready to be printed a couple of weeks ago at least.

Yes and they are advertising HL2 on their magazine for free. :dozey:

They'd only throw in the ad, if VU or valve would have confirmed them and given them money to advertise their game. Otherwise, it would be mentioned in an editorial column.

Also the editors wouldn't just "make up" such a thing - they'd only claim something like this with confirmation from the developer. Valve can sue them for false advertising and unofficially using the HL2 logo. This even furthur proves that the ad is legit.

Now checking the date that he posted the thread : 08-05-2004 - thats the 5th of August (american dating is month/day/year apposed to british day/month/year), isn't that a bit late to still be finding textures for a game thats supposedly finished now?

Why do I get an erie feeling that Valve are suddenly rushing Cs Source out the door to give HL2 a lot more time...

Maybe they just want to make a very fine introduction to the game... imagine the crowbar being slowly forged in hot iron... Remember, the first time they communicated about HL2 they used the crowbar shape forming a "2"

Not that I have seen. Although I live fairly out of the way so I they may be around.

I am not sure it would be entirely PCPP's fault, I have heard (now this is just a rumour) that Valve tend to delay some things now and again. I could be way off the mark though but that is what I heard.

It would be VU who did that. Not Valve.. PCPP would'ev had CLEARANCE from VU to do that ad (which VU would've paid for) why would they do such a thing and then say "oh it's not going to be in that issue".

Supposedly PCPP have something "big" too, some people are saying HL1 on a DVD, maybe it's HL1:Source ?? Or, STALKER demo, or FEAR demo, or Sim2 demo.. could be anything.

Sim2 is big, one of the biggest, games, ever.. they could consider it "exclusive" and "big" too. Imo, it's not, but to them, it would be.
