Halflife 2 Combine Costume Redux

I think you did a very good job of putting together the combine uniform. I agree with the others - orange reflective lenses would be cool.

Check out this TFC costume. Unlike your costume this one is quite...hilarious.

what should i paint the gas mask then, black or whiter?

you're right though, that tfc costume is hilarious. coincidently, back in my TFC playing days, medic was my favorite class next to engineer. Just running around infecting everyone, those were the days
 
hey, to make that combine costume look more like in the screeneis, use yellow electrical tape to make vertical yellow lines running down the pants (like in the screenshot where they're taking prisoners), and maybe some orange or white elictrical tape running horizontally on one of the arms.

try to search on ebay for a kevlar vest. one time i found a nice one that was cheap, but then got outbid at $50.00.
 
the edited pic is somewhere in my harddrive, i can't remember where it is, i save too many pictures. I have 95% of all Somethingawful.com's photoshoped pictures. it would take me hours to find any particular one. but if i do find it, i'll post it
 
Yes, I'd say definitely get some lenses for the goggles.

really bored indeed. anyway the best way i can describe it is like this

you know all those middle aged guys that dress up as stormtroopers and go to star wars/sci fi conventions...

well the love they have for Star Wars i happen to have for Halflife

which is to say i have almost no life, but i don't mind, never wanted one anyway :p
 
For those that were asking:
Weta Workshops are/were the costume,props and set designers etc for the Lord of the Ring Trilogy....and you know how good those look.
 
If you can't find lenses to fit your mask you might want to try to find some gold reflective window tint film(if such a thing exists). And for your futuristic assault rifle try using vacuum cleaner parts(which are often conveniantly colored black) and fuse them onto a toy gun or broken real gun!
 
well today i managed to buy to gold tinted driving glasses for 6 bucks, i broke them in half and removed the legs and duct taped them to the inside of the mask.

Looks good. Would still love to see someone decked out as one of the opposing force soldiers from HL1. But the outfit does look very good :cheers:

WetaWorkshops will without a doubt make Combine Mask and Armour if there were to be any Half Life films, and they will use FlyingDebris work as inspiration. FKN cool

Nahh, your thinking of the other combine guys, with the bluish outfits and the dark grey helmets, I heard they were called "Metro Cops" or something.
 
I think the ones in the ballistic vests are Soldiers, and the ones with the white masks are the Metrocops...

Meant to congrat you on the costume flying debris. Lookin good. :thumbs:
 
The costume looks pretty neat, but the flash of the camera combined with the black color of the outfit keeps us from seeing a lot it's details :-(.
As others have commented, all you need now to complete the look is the kevlar vest and the orange combine armband - both with their appropriate markings. Hopefully they'll stand out a bit more.
Love the mask by the way, looks very realistic - and will be more so with lenses.
 
well you see. i must set the records straight here. I did not build this costume, i assembled it. i took clothes and props etc and combined it to fit my idea of the character. The combine mask is a PMG bulgarian gasmask , the clothes are just black BDUs and a tac vest as well as a pair of black boots. Then i went and added reflective lenses to the mask and modified a toy gun to look more real. I don't want anyone getting the idea i made it by hand.

What i am making by hand is the headcrab zombie costume but there's already a thread for that

pretty well, i stuck in some tinted lenses from a pair of drivng glasses and now the mask has slightly reflective yellow/orange eyes
 
Awesome Combine suit, now you got to speak in a weird strange voice (like in the videos) Has some one made a HEV suit? I really wont to know if someone has. I would love to get one! Now I got to make a Combine suit of my own and chase away these pesky kids around here!
 
Someone made a really sucky cardboard HEV. I think someone around here has it in their siggy.

lol, ace. You have to make an HEV! I wish I had the resources to make something like that. I've got no spare money so.. :(
