Im not real sure how to work this stupid hex editor.. I have AXE 3.2.. I click open special>huge file then I click search and type in Video file type: ANSI something.. it finds the text.. or.. some of it.. but im not sure what to do.. it wont let me erase/rename any of the text

You have to replace the text, try goin to Edit, then replace

Overwrite is on, just put your cursor before the 'G' and type Docks, save and go view it.

... and I just can't stand that crowbar animation

For those of you having trouble opening it. Change the type to ANSI, and search for "Media" instead of "Video". Once you've done that, there are about 6 different results for the word media throughout the file, go to the last one. That's where you alter the text.

The names of these files are pretty basic in relation to the footage (eg Docks, G-man). I'm thinking Alyx would be the next, but that's 4 symbols. Any ideas?

Those are references to debug files. This is betaware after all... It's kind of voyeuristic though, to see Valve's internal network shares and paths.
