If it weren't because every now and then I try to be friendlier and nicer to people, and I still see the disappointment in their faces, I would be more inclined to believe what you are telling me. I have thought about that before and I have concluded that that is not the case, because the outcome is so discouraging that there is no possible way on earth I would be martyring myself on purpose. I pinpointed the cause of the problem to an inherit problem in my persona. Either that, or the American collective is truly ****ed up.
