the staff are pissed because the same old promises have been going around for years now, whenever they do anything they are publicly put down, making them look useless to the community simply for trying to improve things. This is YOUR site.. If you want it to stay as it is and gradually fade away known as the only site with no content or any actual site to it beyond the forum, since the beginning, then don't do anything, let those who do say anything gradually get banned, fired and removed so nobody is around to "complain". (members are leaving to hl2 world and other sites, not just HL sites that offer tutorials and articles and put online things that are submitted) But if you want it to keep going and try to improve it, then act on it.

Newer users might not understand, but anyone who's been around here for over a year will remember the other times things have been promised.

Stern's right. We didn't say what we said in the site discussion forum to hurt this site, or to bring it down. We said those things because they needed to be said to get things to change, and if they do, then they won't have been said in vain.
 
I've been around a fair while, I just think the site is in a natural decline since its subject matter has been and gone.

If you want the spark back, move over to halflife3.net or something.

Getting caught up in childish arguments just because your hill is shrinking doesn't help anyone, or other peoples opinions of you...
 
Ok...starmonkey is still admin even tho he asked to be fired.So something must still be going on between him and munro.

Also TDE is right...I don't even go to the front page/homepage ever.I always go straight to the forums.Why?The front page is boring and lame.

There's no good content or anything useful...it's just plain.

What'll be of the site now? And the staff? Will everyone just split up and leave, never to be heard of again? ;(

I want what was said to stay out there. I don't want it swept under the carpet. I want things to change, and that's always been the motivation behind the things I've said.
 
What the heck is going on? Seems to me there's more than enough people here that actually want to put the time and effort into making these changes so why is it such a problem?

maybe it's because I dont involve myself in the running of this site, maybe it's because Munro was the only person who would listen to me when I was seconds away from being banned, maybe it's because for the most part I like all the mods and I dont want to choose sides ....that said ..I do like this community, I do care what happens to it, I have noticed the decline ..but even though I have one of the highest post counts, even though I've been here for awhile ..I still dont know the full story ..you just filled in some of the blanks but as an outsider I cant possiblely have the same perspective as the mods do. I cant possibly have the same level of frustration the mods must feel. I for one believe that this site cant be run efficiently by only one person ..it's must be a colaborative effort ...which is why I understand why so many of you are pissed. but that's about 5% of the reasons ...I dont enter a battle with only 5% of the information ;)

I'm no longer a moderator, but I'll still hang around (unless I get banned :) )

I'll still be in #halflife2 (heck, I'm co-owner of the channel - we wouldn't even have it if I hadn't engineered a takeover way back)

I'm not going to say who I work for, because I like to keep my comments as my own, not as a representative of my employer.

I'll still give out the occasional NDA-bending bit of info about our game.

SM isn't blackmailing anyone, he quit, I think people still have the right to quit being a moderator don't you?
 
Oh dear, what a kerfuffle. For the sakes of this awesome community i hope this gets sorted out one way or another, but im going to continue sitting on the fence, till i can work out exactly why this is so hectic.

Not blackmail, I'm trying one last attempt to do something productive with the site, and keep staff members who are actually useful. I don't want to see the site fail.

I'm under no illusion that i'm important enough to blackmail using my position. Zerim is a friend and if he's not around then I seriously can't see the site going anywhere so I will leave.

Call it immature, but I (and others) are at the end of our tether because Munro promises everything will be done 'tomorrow', then does nothing for weeks. If this public kick up the arse doesn't work then I don't see any point in me staying.

Oh, OK... The way I read it was 'If Zerimski is still fired, then I quit'.

The sad thing is, is that the community will remain, and there's nothing we can do to help the site because of that.

ahh, see this is sitting on the fence again, it's a stagnant community right now. What good is that. This is the problem and has been the problem for a long time now, nothing is changing. The way things are going, if nothing changes, this community will just fade away eventually anyway. This handful of moderators were the ones who were vocal enough to try improve the situation. Lose them and what do you have...

The site can fall, but we'll always have other half-life 2 sites, and soon enough some brand-spankin' new half-life 3 sites ...
