If you could go back in time, where/when would you go?

The height of the Roman Empire...either that or the late '50s

I'd probably go back in time to the medieval ages, or the roman era as well.

Imagine you can go back in time, Just the once, a one way ticket so to speak, to any part of history, anywhere in the world and live out the rest of your days.

Where and when would you go?

Anyone who is into science fiction should shudder at the thought of time travel. At best, nothing happens when you fool around in the past. At worst, even an extremely slight change can trigger the end of the world, or something similiar.

And what about time paradoxes?

Lets not get into Paradoxes.. we don't have enough time or energy to even try work those out :p

Reading 'Sound Of Thunder' eh?

Hmm what about going back to the 70's (or whenever it was) and putting a little share into Bill Gates early Microsoft, and watch your shares grow..and grow... and grow.. :D ;)

Either that or Back when the so-called "Jesus" was around - I really would want to meet him and see some of his "miracles" for myself.

Oh noes!

no religous or political stuff...too much already...head hurts

I'd go back to world war II. It seems really crazy, I know, but I always felt like I wanted to be among the allied people. Just to feel the immense threat and brotherhood amongst people...

then go to the 70s...you wouldn't die as fast

I'm completely happy with the thrill of seeing ancient rome at it's height :)

Except for the fact you brush your teeth with your own piss. :|

But otherwise, Yeh!

Ancient rome? hm.... should be really impressive I have to admit. Especially the (food) orgies should be loads of fun

I've always been fascinated with ancient rome...have loads of books and papers on the subject :D

Here in Holland we've got this archeological themepark called Archeon. Gives a bit of insight in the lifestyles in the ancient times, really interesting. I've never been to Rome, but I plan to someday.

ew...sounds to much like 'edjutainment'

I'd probably go back to around the 1500, 1600 century, so that I could become a captain on a tallship.

Yeah, it was a one time visit and it hardly attracts any visitors anyway. Hell, the roman baths didn't even include naked oiled up goddesses dammit :cheese:

We have that here too. Its called Las Vegas.

well if we are trying to keep religion out of the topic...hmm....

I guess I would go back to 1700's-1800's. And study with some of the classical masters. Mostly Chopin, because he had all the chicks.

But I would also like to meet Beethoven. I could also teach him sign language.

If I could choose a religous purpose, I would probably go back to salom and show those nit wits that they have no idea what they are doing, and hopefully save some innocent lives.

Haha I would be the only man in a picket line at the boarding of the Titanic.."Hell no, She wont float" Hell no, She wont float"

I think i wuld really like to go back to the Samurai days, but I would probably wind up getting my head cutt off for being a little more IRISH than I am.

Above all I think I would go back to the early 80's and learn how to break dance.

I would go back in time to the Black Mesa Research Facility and make sure the Resonance Cascade never happened!!!! :O:O Shock, Horror.

I would go back and save John F Kennedy! I would be a hero

....or not.

I'd probably go with Dane Cook's idea, and go back to the night where my parents had sex to have me, and then the second they finished, i'd run in and just spank my dad on the ass and scream "i'm your son from the future! ha ha ha ha ha!" and then run back out again.

You haven't done that yet?

I'd go to ancient Egypt's grand days, probably. Or the 60's or some other fun age, like feudal Japan.

can't afford the machine yet, dude! they ain't cheap. they're almost as expensive as top-o'-the line graphics cards these days!

I goto WW1 and deliver ownage with my full body kevlar armour and minigun.

Maybe not :p

I would like to see what it was like in early Japan, with all those temples and paper houses :p

I have a question before I answer yours.

When you ask: "where/when would you go?", if I choose to go back to the 80s, does that mean I will be that much younger? How would my life work out? I don't completely understand? How about my life. Would I still have a family? How would I get back to the present-time?

UK before the Roman empire came, I want to see the ancient Celtic tribes and the great European forests.

or Rome at its height.

Go back and punch Shakespeare in the face for all the crap I had to do in English.

*slithers away*
Note: Anyone who can understand why I said "*slithers away*" gets a cookie.

But what if you're one of those religious types who think it all happened in 7 days!!

"Oh can't wait for tomorrow there's gonna be light!!"

And God said, "let there be li...who the devil are you?"

well, technically, judeo-christian beliefs state that the world was created in SIX days, and that that dude that made it all took a nap on the seventh, ya?
