Hey guys, I'm curious as to what all of you think of the whole immigration (well in the south border) issue. Do you think they're really stealing jobs? Legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.

They are helping the economy. Let them in within reason. Illegal immigrants do a lot of the undesirable jobs in Phoenix. They really help our economy grow.

KidRock did make a valid point. It is very difficult to legally immigrate into the United States.

back to the point.. people who come into this country illegaly are breaking the law.. which makes them criminals. I hate criminals so I hate illegal immagrants. I never said I hate legal immigrants.

It's a complicated issue. I just asked my mom ( I live in a family who migrated here.) One of the reasons is that they need work and fast. they can't wait when they are starving and such. So they decide to sneak in to work for less money doing mostly jobs that most americans wouldn't do anyways. You can't just come into the US and start to live AND work here almost immediately, legally. Unless you have a relative(that is a US citizen) that lives here or you get married to a US citizen, you can't come in here to work immediately. Especially when you're starving and can't find a place to work in mexico, I can understand why they do that.

(Edit: Mom is not sure if the policy is the same today, so it might be a little off)

I am sure you get this alot more blah(living close to the border) but it really pisses me off when people can't speak English. I work at the movie theater and I usually get about one of these customers a day, they just mumble stuff and point at what they want.

not all immigrants are poor or are escaping a bad life ...many immigrants come here because they want a fresh start. They bring with them skills, culture are hardworking and contribute to society. Not every immigrant is destined to pick oranges for the rest of their lives

A friend of mine (a decade or so older than I am) was born in El Salvador ..he was chief orthopedic surgeon at the san salvador hospital. When civil war broke out in the 80's he had to drop everything and flee the country (his brother in law was murdered for sympathizing with the rebels) ..he left his private practice, his hospital job, his home overnight ..20 years later he still cant return ..he has a rather large stash of money hidden but he cant go back to retrieve it for fear of being killed. Oh and he came to canada and his first job was cleaning offices at night ...how many north americans can even relate?

Well it kinda makes a danger for over population. I also think it's abusing a privilage. In some countries don't allow people to come into thier country, and ones who sneak in would be killed, so they should just deal with the wait.

And it's not just mexicans who sneak in, there are illegal imigrants from other countries, like russia

Did I imply they are stupid? No. But if they are going to disrespect our laws by illegally coming into this country the least they could do is learn English. I do speak a little Spanish, but I can never understand what they are saying, too fast and they have a weird accent.

Yes, at times there is a language barrier, but those people are some of the hardest working people I have ever seen.

They are hard working, my Dad had to work a few factory jobs after Clinton robbed him of his previous job. They were mostly Mexican, and mostly illegal. The immigration service would come in about every 2 months and take away half the people, but they would get hired again in a couple weeks(not sure if they were the same people, but I think they were). Some of them have been working that same job for 10 years.

My asian friend taught himself English, well his family did. He speaks it pretty well too, and even better since he started speaking with native English speakers and going to school. Most of the illegals my Dad worked with never leanred English, only spoke Vietnamese and Spanish.

Well I would try to make my life better where I live.. I wouldnt sneak into a country illegally. I dont care how hungry I was. Do what you have to do and enter the country legally.

Foxtrot, Not all immigrants just stick to their native languages (The ones that don't speak english). Don't judge them all by the experience your dad had. Hell, my mom learned by watching tv and reading the newspaper, but she lived with people who knew both her native language and english. That's not the the case with all of them.

Im in Hollywood. Just a county below me in Miami-Dade there are tons of Cuban immigrants. And they are legal. I wonder what would happen if the same cuban rule were applied to Mexico.

Seriously, I believe crime rate is higher because they have less accountability. I believe the crime rate problem revolves around the fact they are not given proper pay (and other benefits) that they should be given. I believe they should work here, but be registered as an illegal immigrant. Something to keep track of them but allow them to work.
