I doubt he was in the "service". A lot of the guys driving those big tankers are actually contractors... private army types.

If one of those rocks broke through the windshield the driver would be killed. I am not saying in any way they should shoot children but it is a serious threat those kids are posing. One of those rocks can easily kill someone driving the vehicle. If I were one of the guys driving the truck I would load my gun up with blanks to scare the shit out of those kids.

A rock that broke through thoughend safety glass after being thrown by hand would have nowhere near enough velocity to kill someone. The worst injury possible would be some lacerations from the rock itself, or maybe a broken nose.

EDIT: and if you start firing guns (even loaded with blanks) you're only going to attract angry people with guns of their own (who probably wont fire blanks back)

you know, this would be a good excuse to try out this idea of mine. basically get an airsoft minigun mounted on a tripod. bolt it onto a truck roof. attach a webcam and some motors for aiming the minigun. the hook it up to a laptop.
