I've played the Wii and......

I just got back from my EBgames and played Excite truck or whatever it is on the wii!
drool - Graphics were pretty basic- colorful
but...
oh my the controller was just pwnnn-age! SOOO next-gen - can't wait to see wii sports - zelda - COD:3

Can't wait for this thing- its everything i wanted it to be and im not that much of a fan of racing games but the controller made it an arcade style experience. :D

Yeah, played it aswell. Tennis and ping-pong = ULTRAWIN.
Red Steel looks soo good, and I saw other people shooting arrows with the controllers, and looked really cool :D

Do they really let you play them at Gamespot? Is there ANY way I can find out if my gamespot has that? (Without having to go there.)

Gamespot is a website- gameSTOP is a game store =p
Your lucky you had Red steel/ tennis at yours beerdude :(
Call your local EBGAMES and gamestop's

Red Steel looks like an unoriginal piece of crap.

Hmm, I don't know of many games that involve gangs with swords and guns... Oh and a unique way to control and aim the gun...

Yeah... unoriginal :p

Key difference: I didn't have fun playing the Wii.
You didn't have fun playing on a Wii with to much sensitivity for you and it was a single game on the Wii.
Hey lets go judge the Pc with Pariah or some other piece of shit game.

You seem to have a problem with me. So let's just get this awkward moment out of the way:

Back off.

I made it clear that I am reserving final judgment, but that is not going to magically stonewall any initial reactions I may have. Because wether you like it or not, the Wii sitting in that store has the sole purpose of attracting customers. That means giving enough of a glimpse into the console to rack up pre-orders and make sure people are standing in mile-long lines the day it releases. In my case, it has failed in that regard. Any praise or criticism you may offer up for the machine at this point is always going to be premature to a degree, but that doesn't make them any less valid.
All gaming application aside, I don't like the controller. I don't like the way it handles. I don't like the way it feels. I don't care for any of the titles. And nothing I've seen of it has impressed me. You want to shoot me over that? Fine. Be my guest.

Oh wait, I forgot. This isn't a two-way street. It's acceptable to lovingly fawn all over the console, but you're apparently a judgmental halfwit if (Gasp!) it's not your cup of tea.

I will be buying a wii regardless...mainly because I want to play zelda and my sister took my gamecube to college with her.

I cannot afford an Xbox360 or a PS3, so the wii is really the only logical choice for me, especially because I am a rabid zelda fan.

With the Wii, your experience is going to be dependent on the game you try. Some games just work better with the controller than others, but I'm sure people will get the hang of developing for such a device.

I don't have a problem with you... I only pick on you because... I like you... I love you.. lol just jk. But no I don't gotta problem with you.

I simply have a problem when somebody makes a comment about something that seems "narrow" from my point of view.

I think it will be hit or miss for a lot of people.....some people just dont like change and refuse to walk away from the "mouse and keyboard" attitude once in awhile.
Those people will be missing out......

Well with new technology, it takes time before all the kinks are actually worked out and I don't blame people who shy away from it at this point. A lot of these games that people are looking forward haven't been getting ALL rave reviews. Red Steel has issues with its controls and no one knows if they're going to be ironed out at the release.

It's not "narrow", though. He explained that, as much as he wants to, he simply can't make the controller or the software "click" with him. By its very nature, the Wii is going to ostracize a lot of people who can't manage the sensitivity, can't fathom the control method, can't make the transition from gamepads, or in the case of my friend, can't use it because he only has half a right arm (but nonetheless is capable of occasionally beating me down in Halo 2).

If Absinthe really was narrow-minded, he wouldn't have tried the Wii in the first place :p

To be fair, I need to try some different games on it. I really want to like the Wii. Honestly. I can't stand the idea that I'd be unable to adapt to a new control style after being raised on thumbsticks and D-pads for years. I'd feel ancient. Like those old people that don't know how to turn on their DSL modems or reformat their hard drives. :(

Or, y'know, some people don't view every new innovation as a godsend like you make it out to be. Virtual Boy, anybody? A concept I can respect, but an implementation I'd steer clear from.

So let's all stop pretending that those poor, sad, stone-aged twits that aren't automatically humping the controlstick are missing out on the second coming. Kay?

I said from my point of view and from that specific post and only that post.

However his old post plus this post [togeather] makes me revise my previous opinion.

ya i got a chance to play the wii as well, and i was preety impressed sure it may not have the greatest graphics in the world, but its no worse then a PS2 or XBOX which im ok with cause really my computer is for the more hardcore gaming stuff. Excite truck was preety cool took a little while getting used to but once you get it down its preety neat.

Looking at the DS, though, I think Nintendo stands a fair chance of getting it right first go.

Although I havn't played it yet, and probably won't until someone i know gets it and Brawl. ><
