I'm amazed at the ignorance in this thread. God is thanked as the ultimate source of life and sustenance. My entire family and extended family is Catholic, yeah, we say a prayer in thanksgiving to God, but it's not like we forget the people who actually do the work. We know that Jesus didn't drive down to the supermarket, buy the food, and then cook everything. No, my mother and sister, who do the preparation, are thanked a dozen times over.
I don't think any of you are comfortable with the idea that people believe differently than you, otherwise you wouldn't have to mock every instance of someone adhering to a faith. It's pitiful actually.
You are doing the same thing. "Not comfortable with the idea that people believe differently than you, otherwise you wouldn't have to mock us."I'm amazed at the ignorance in this thread. It's not ignorance if it happened. Your family may thank those who cooked dinner, but for many others out there their families will always thank God and no one else.
Oh, come on, it's at least 2 pages of Christians showing themselves to be intolerant and trying to put themselves on some kind of pedestal. This is four pages of anti-Christian verbal masturbation.
Damn I love this forum, it's just so full of people who think they're better than others!

I agree with you. Unfortunately evangelical Christianity in the US has for the most part marketed the Christian faith as something that will freely and instantly take one's problems away completely. It offers a very cheap salvation...but Authentic Christianity doesn't offer an easy mode through life. If Christians really acted the way Christians were supposed to, selflessly, compassionately, with understanding, that would be awesome. The one thing I can't stand with religion is the complete selfishness of each one of the religions. Every religion preaches about the consequences of not following their God and how we'll suffer eternally. In essence, the agnostics are the ones taking shots from religious people. They don't offer a proper justification to joining their religion, it's all about saving us from eternal damnation or how God will solve our problems if we believe in him every single time.
If a real God did exist, I doubt he/she will want us to look for an easier way out of life
.
If you think Thanksgiving is about being thankful to whoever made the food, you know nothing about Thanksgiving.
And just as Mogi67 made the point, it's pretty narrow-minded to assume that Christian Thanksgivers aren't appreciative and thankful towards those who directly prepared the food.
A statement backed up by absolutely nothing but God-fearers-are-stupid sentiment.
Also what's with the skull.
