yeah the reviews so far are awful, shame...worth a rental perhaps?

Man, I'll probably still get it, if only for the story and characters. Besides, maybe the PC version is slightly better.

I didn't know people had high hopes for this game, from the videos you can tell the game is going to be horridly mediocre and bland as far as shooters go

These flukes are getting more and more common these days. First Assassin's Creed, now this.. I don't know whats happening, but either the producers are getting better at promoting their games, making them seem better than they actually are, or we're all looking for good games were they don't exist. As for me, I'm just hoping Mass Effect doesn't also turn out to be another "failed promise"

Well my most recent Game Informer reviewed Mass Effect already giving it a 9.5 so I have high hopes.

As for Kane and Lynch I was never holding my breath in the first place.

I wasn't expecting a goty game but i didn't expect it turn out this bad either.
It's a real shame.I love the Hitman games but this turned out be a sloppy job.

People need to stop basing their entire decision off a single review.

There's over a half a dozen reviews out there with practically the same scores. The game is mediocre, live with it.

But that doesn't mean the game sucks. So they don't like it.

These are the same people who give Halo 3 a 10/10 for God's sake.

At 1st i thought this was going to be a must have coop game, then i saw the gameplay. Samething happened with Army of Two. Shame both games were bound to be good coop games.

Assassin's Creed is Incredible.

Yea exactly and gave OB what 9.5? wtf? You get 5 stellar games for less than halo 3 and all these reviewers start nitpicking about stupid shit. Its just an opinion to be tooken with a grain of salt, until they start talking about how shitty the A.I. or the controls are, maybe thats worth listening to more than how fun it was to them.

Read the review for what it is, someone's opinion. Not a hard and fast ruling from the gods, unchangable from now until the end of time. If you liked Freedom Fighters you'll probably like this.

Play games because you like them not because someone else told you to like them.

Eh, I think reviews are taken a bit too seriously now. It must be disheartening for developers, to put your heart and soul into something and see it prodded and poked at by critics, only to come out the other end of the review machine a lesser game.

I try to take them as more of a general indication of quality rather than a marker on how "good" it actually is. A game can have serious flaws and still be immensely enjoyable.

Maybe it's just all of the triple A releases we've been getting spoiled by recently, but I think sometimes we as gamers forget what snobs we can be. :p

I'll be getting this. Personally I was never expecting the game to win any awards for graphics, realism etc, etc but to me it looks like a fun game to be a bad ass in.

Assassin's Creed is Incredible.
It sure is. And so is Mass Effect--mind-blowingly awesome actually!

And I don't know why everyone was so pumped for this game. Every vid I have seen, including the gametrailers review depicts some pretty crummy graphics and pretty dull and uninventive gameplay. Granted, the wanton violence appeals to me on a certain level, but I would rather get my shooting fix from games done right on all levels like CoD4.

Already done CoD4, was great fun, and is up for a replay, and no doubt the MP might drag me away from TF2 for a bit. However COD4 was all about saving the world, where as K&L looks a lot more about setting fire to it :smoking:

The only reason Halo 3 got such good reviews is because of the hype. If anything i'd say it deserved a much lower score than TOB. The orange box was probably the best combination of games ever released.

Ignoring the reviews, the game looks fun as hell with two badass protagonists( or I guess in this case, antagonists? )
I wasn't expecting it to be godlike, it just looks fun.

I have to convince myself that these games aren't worth 70 euros, the reviews only help me to do so. The reason for this is that I want to buy a new amplifier and eventually an acoustic guitar, so yeah, games seem to be getting more and more expensive for me lol

Quick question: has anyone seen this for sale for the PC in a shop today in the UK? I did a lunchtime scour and couldn't see it anywhere, though the 360 and PS3 versions were released?

They're still protagonists, and the characters we're supposed to relate with.

It wasn't until after playing through the game I realized the copy my buddy had was a montage of key scenes that were mistakenly copied on a disc and plugged into a case. :p

Game still kicked ass, had a good story.

Me and my frind rented this game it has decent online play, though the campaign is meant for co-op.

Pantagonists?

haha. I was just implying that being the protagonist doesn't always imply good will, it just usually does because supposedly more people can relate to that and prefer a classically evil antagonist.

I know :p

Been playing this over the weekend. It's a bit buggy (the odd graphics crash), but it's easy enough to get into and there is plenty of action for sure (gunfight, after gunfight, after gunfight..against overwhelming odds generally). I wouldn't say the combat is ideal but it's pretty good fun, and the fire fights can be quite intense (in a different way from CoD4). Kane is pretty much ruthless father seeking revenge, but Lynch is just all kinds of evil. The story is over the top, but it's certainly got me interested enough to find out what happens.

Although it's effectively an on rails shooter, The levels are nicely done (they are LA minimalist), and pretty expansive so it never feels like it, and the sheer number of NPCs running around is mind boggling at times. There is one bit where you go into a nightclub and there are easily over 100 NPCs dancing away, sure a lot of them have the same skins, but the fact that my machine didn't grind to a complete halt impressed the hell out of me (and yes all hell breaks loose in it as well :)).

The only downside to the game is the saving system. When you are in a level as you advance and complete certain goals the game saves your scenes, so if you die during the next scene you restart from the last one. However if you exit the game before completing a level, you start from the beginning again, which can be a bitch as some of the levels are hard work (Havana especially). However don't let that put you off, if you want to play a game as a ruthless & relentless Son of a Bitch, this is the game for you . 7/10 so far.

Ah! Sounds like Blood Money's save system.

Oh I forgot to add the game employs an automatic cover system, in that if your near a pillar or vehicle, you'll hide behind it and from which you can either blind fire (waste of ammo) or aim fire. It's pretty good, but it occasionally acts up. Also the SiG is by far the best rifle for distance shooting (forget the M4 or AK).

It annoys me how headshots aren't instakills, and the cover system is kinda bugged (It either takes Kane 3 seconds to recognize cover or he doesn't even take cover at all.)

The transition to the Cuban setting kinda annoyed me in that it just drops you there without really explaining what else went on in between. It's like "**** you blah blah prison blah" then "**** you blah blah HOLY GOD DAMN SHIT MY ****ING EARS ARE BLEEDING GOD HELP ME PENIS" and we're in the middle of a revolution?

Fun firefights though.

I found the Havana level pretty tough, especially trying to keep your dudes alive when the helicopter is flying about. In the end I ordered them all into the cafe area (where they were relatively safe..someone else's suggestion tbh), and took on the revolutionaries (and copter) myself. Hard work, but I managed it on the 5th attempt or so.:smoking:

does this game even have a plot?

I didn't bother to click the link because I am too lazy, I bet it explained in there....

the multyplayer looks good maybe ill rent it
ill prolly go for cod 4 though
