Kid brings gun to my school

A 16-year-old Murphy High School student, who hadn't been in school for several weeks, was arrested Thursday after faculty members saw the boy on campus and later found a loaded gun in his backpack, according to authorities.

The ninth-grader, whose name was not released because of his age, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and was taken to Strickland Youth Center, Mobile police spokesman Officer Eric Gallichant said.

Other things that have happened here in the past week: basketball player gets killed playing with a gun over the weekend, people find out today and are hysterical. Wednesday there was a stabbing in the cafeteria. This morning a guy nearly beats a girl to death by bashing her head in with a stool. He left campus before he could be caught and is still on the loose.

Pretty much all of the violence is black on black. Except the stool thing, the girl was white but acted and sounded exactly like a black person so she was pretty much black. Apparently the guy was her ex-boyfriend who didn't handle the breakup well.

Because our school is so big, it's like having multiple schools on one campus. Regular classes consist almost completely of black people from the surrounding neighborhoods. More advanced classes are mixed with kids who are mostly from other districts who get transfers for programs that other schools don't offer.

It's perfectly civil in my classes, but one room over it sounds like a bunch of chimpanzees fighting over a peanut.



Also, this sort of thing does NOT transfer over to college campuses.
