Killzone 2 footage!

I've watched it again and I'm seriously having doubts as to wether or not that's in-game.

I'm pretty sure that's just a pre-rendered FMV or whatever, otherwise PS3 is one HELL OF A MACHINE(console).:P

It can't be in game ! I wont believe it ! Look at the way the camera moves, really smooth and acurate, seems really artificial. You cant move like that using the playstation controller surely ? Unless the new gen controller is really really refined.

Ooh, anyone else notice the Saving Private Ryan line in there ?

wow looks in-game to me...to bad its gonna suck with a controller.

very impressive

why do all the characters have boy band haircuts though?

the Hoxton Fin has somehow made its way into a video game

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

PS3 can do some nice stuff.
Plus, the compression of the video is bound to mask any flaws.

But that seemed to have gone too "perfect".
Either it's rendered, or it's its fully scripted in the engine.

In conclusion:

Bad parts though: Killzone 1 = not good.
Also, good guys go into the explosion fight without helmets? Doyy.

yeah I guees its scripted but Hl2 was scripted....it was a nice Games so this gonna rock I hope PS3 can have Keyboard and mouse

yes i think its safe to say it was fully scripted...hence the camera woved rather smooth but still i think it would be ingame... sooks damn impressive.

If it wasn't scripted, the AI looked abysmally bad, just from what I'd gleamed from the video.

yes... but then everything you seem to say is derogatory to the ps3... as it would seem...

why does it look bad... i dont think so...

It looks fantastic, but I doubt very much that its real-time. Looks too much like pre-rendered to appear as in game footage.

And what derogatory comments might those be? Excuse me for exhibiting some backlash against this ridiculous hype.

Let's be realistic here. It was the PS3 unveiling. Anything they show is going to be preened to death. I highly doubt you will experience something like that in the game itself. Why do I say that? Because that's the way it is at every E3. Just going off of the quality of the video itself leads me to believe that it's either pre-rendered or scripted to death. And if it's a case of the latter, then it's quite possible that all of the console's power was allocated into that one scene, which leads me to question how it would actually pan out in a real-time unscripted environment. Never mind the fact that the original Killzone was hyped beyond all hell and looked amazing for the PS2, but kinda sucked when it was actually result. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me, even if it turns out that those graphics are legit.

Halo 2 suffered a similar thing. When its first video was shown, it was primped up to an extreme. Then Bungie realized that there was no way they'd be able to manage an entire game with that level of quality. So they scaled back.

I admit that I'm being a bit of a negative nancy, but I just can't help it. But I can tell you that I'd probably be saying the same thing of the Xbox 360 showed off something like this.

yes i do understand that... but I was just pointing out what you said as in you being a "negitive nancy". I just thought it was odd that you said the A.i was horrible... you didnt see a hell of alot of it anyway and i was currious as to what part you thoguht was horrid... I had no intention of flaming if thats what you thought :)

thats the coolest thing Ive ever seen, even if its not ingame :|

Drool-enducing Killzone picture

/me drools profusely

I think that the video is scripted, but from that piccy it looks like it's rendered real time. Looking at the Fight Night video, the PS3 could acheive that. That said, I've not seen any game that I want to play because of gameplay rather than graphics. But anyways...

/me returns to drooling

Its in the game not a movie.....PS3 cell+NvidaRx can produce the following :)

The debate shouldn't be whether or not it's ingame, it's the extent to which that scene is scripted and staged. I don't doubt that the technology can produce graphics of that quality, I just want to know if I can walk anywhere in that level and still see the same quality.

Obviously that's staged and scripted to the shisen. I think Valves E3 presentation of 2003 showed us what scripting really is, i wasn't fully aware at the time that companies did that but it's just so obvious when you think about it.

I say that's probably in-game, the developers probably worked for months making this tiny piece of a level jam packed full of scripted action to show it all off. Maintaining that detail throughout the game will be a killer on their art department. Probably has years more development for that kind of detail.

Sony use pre-rendered videos like this to make idiots think it's in-game footage and go out and pre-order the console, only to be completely let-down on release day by games that arent anywhere near as pretty. It happened with the PS1, it happened with the PS2, and the PS3 is no different.

If that is in-game I will eat my hat.

This movie is an intro - a pre-rendered intro movie to a game. Why it was released, I don't know. I wouldn't use it as a guide to what the PS3 can handle in realtime.

Look at this objectively. Look at the in-game footage that has been released for both consoles.

We know that the Gran Turismo 5 footage is in-game. We know that the Project Gotham Racing 3 footage is in-game. Therfore you should look to compare these two titles and their quality. In such a scenario, PGR3 wins. GT5 looks like GT4 in a higher resolution, nothing more.

killzone 2 uses heavy HDR, and it looks jaw dropping.

I think they just start working on the next GT , the pic we saw was a early Alpha
heres another Racing game on the PS3 :

Well if it's true the PS3 is 35 times as powerful as PS2, the graphics will look like that.

it looks amazing but like other people say, it looks like its all been scripted down to the character in first person because theres no way thats being controlled
