Killzone 2 footage!

it reminds of the pre rendered ads for the call of duty game on the consoles, they had this amazing ad that was like photorealistic, reminds me of this vid tbh, at the moment i'd say prerendered but maybe its ingame but the whole action is just scripted sorta like medal of honours omaha beach lvl. you trigger all the scripting when you hit a certain mark etc, anyway if it is scripted ingame, it still looks like an awesome spectacle.

My guess is that it's in-game, fully representative of what the game engine is capable of. Not representative of what the actual gameplay will end up like - the camera is simply too dynamic.

Wow, looks great!!!

\:D/

Tt looks like its using the UE3 engine. Or maybe im going crazy.

Well I pray to god it's something similar to that. I think it's in game, but I personally love the way the camera moves about when you're reloading and whatnot - hopefully it'll be like that.

I'm a complete sony fanboi but i cant imagine a game looking like that...i mean omfg!! Crazy :rolling:

...Lets just say thats ingame and Killzone2 is one of the release titles, UE3 all of a sudden wont look very special at all o_O

I honestly couldn't say that I think the Killzone vids are more advanced than UE3 stuff. Killzone's approach to art skews the perspective greatly: it's aiming for gritty realism, whilst UT2007 / Gears of War are unashamedly stylised super-colourful sci-fi.

The Playstation3 should look that good and that should be realtime, it looks similar to the Unreal3 tech demos that were shown, or probably slightly better. It definately looks like a scripted event, but then, most tech demoes are.

Wow.

But the pc will be able to do that few months after all the consoles.

The PS3 graphics chip is more powerful than 2 Geforce 6800 Ultras combined apparantly.. :dork:

Actually, the one that seems to have been lifted straight from the movie is:
"Just give us a chance!"
From one of the medics.

yeah supposedly the ps3 technology will be available 1 year after its release for pcs, i might till then to get my ps3, depends on launch titles, mgs4 hopefully.

probably, yes. But at a considerable price I fear. Plus console games - I hear - are better balanced. I'm seriously considering switching over. I've had it with these hardware upgrades.

This movie is an intro - a pre-rendered intro movie to a game. Why it was released, I don't know. I wouldn't use it as a guide to what the PS3 can handle in realtime.

Look at this objectively. Look at the in-game footage that has been released for both consoles.

We know that the Gran Turismo 5 footage is in-game. We know that the Project Gotham Racing 3 footage is in-game. Therfore you should look to compare these two titles and their quality. In such a scenario, PGR3 wins. GT5 looks like GT4 in a higher resolution, nothing more.

You seem to bash on about how you think the PS3 game presentations were pre-rendered, well isn't it possible Microsoft has used the same tricks as well? I wouldn't be surprised.

Personally I think there's a good chance that it is in game, when you look at the power encapsulated by the PS3 I can accept it.

I'm pretty sure MGS4 won't be a launch titles, it took 3 years between MGS1 and MGS2, 3 years between MGS2 and MGS3, I'm sure we'll see MGS4 released for the PS3 in 2007.
Otherwise it'll be very rushed compared to the previous ones, and also, sadly from the latest info it seems the gameplay might be -very- different, and aside from that, it's apparently supposed to restart the series, it won't focus at all on the previous things, at E3 they said it'll be a "whole new series for the next-generation Playstation(3)", atleast that's what I recall reading at IGN.

I never trust IGN, not after their Aftermath description - which Marc Laidlaw proved false.

nah dont believe that, thats bol*x, as far as the release goes i dont expect it till 2007 either, it might even take longer to make considering the new options available, heres a description of the mgs4 teaser:

Gaming Horizon was snooping around the unopened showroom floor today and caught a glance at a trailer for two new additions to the Metal Gear series. The first was for Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, a game we assume is along the lines of the Substance and VR Missions offshoot titles. The trailer showcased a Snake model with an eye patch and what appeared to be a multiplayer deathmatch mode. The trailer stated that Subsistence will be a current generation title.

Following the Subsistence trailer was a brand new teaser for Metal Gear Solid 4. The trailer didn't show any gameplay footage, instead poking fun at both itself as well as another popular stealth action title. The trailer began with a game of musical chairs between Snake and enemy soldiers, and in the trend of Metal Gear Solid 3 there were jokes made at the expense of Raiden. The trailer ended with a one on one showdown between Raiden and Snake (dressed as Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher), for a chair adorned with the title of "Main Character". In the end Snake persevered, but the question still remains; will the Jar Jar Binks of the Metal Gear Solid Franchise return? Also, it was confirmed that the game will be written, produced, and directed by Hideo Kojima, and that it will appear on the PlayStation 3

Starts off with Snake hiding behind a small brick building as a bunch of bad guys hover together in a large group on the other side.

A large bomb drops, destroying the building except the wall Snake's leaning against. After a slight pause, the wall falls forward and then the words "No Room To Hide" appear.

Snake starts running away with the enemies chasing close behind. They arrive at a circle of director chairs and it turns into a race to see who can get into all the chairs first. In the end, there's only one chair remaining and as Snake runs towards it, a badbuy runs passed. Snake grabs him and flips him over onto his back and as he turns to get into the chair another badguy sits down in it.

Snake then pulls out an AK-47 and obliterates the circle of enemies occupying the chairs. He turns towards the camera and pulls off his mask to reveal Raiden. Yes, Raiden. Now only one chair remains standing and as Raiden walks towards it. 3 lights (ala SplinterCell) approach the same chair from across the way. It's Snake dressed up in the SplinterCell goggles but the top color of the 3 light formation is red instead of green. He's using the trademark Splinter Cell stealth movement animation.

They race to the chair and begin to battle. Snake kicks Raiden's ass and he goes plummeting off the edge. Snake sits down to finally rest in the chair as it fades to black.

Now all of this teaser footage has many messages being displayed intermittent throughout. The models look to all be current gen models
:P

Wtf, that's insane :P
Anyway, hopefully it'll show up in November 2k7, like MGS2 and MGS3 did(In the US atleast) :p
I can't wait for it.

i wonder if mgs3:substinance will come to pc, they mention a deathmatch mode.

I can't prove it one way or the other, it's all anecdotal. However, having spoken to a few people attending E3 (as vendors, not visitors) including someone from Guerilla Games, and them all having said that it was pre-rendered, I'm quite happy sticking with that conclusion.

I enjoyed Killzone. Killzone 2 will be not different if its like Killzone. Graphics look great. Should be exciting.

It did look like it. Just by the way the character moved... ie the camera movements. Hard to explain really.... at least I am doin a crapy job at it :P

Did they mention if the render was a level of detail they were aiming for?

They didn't mention it, no. I just asked a few people if it was pre-rendered.

Well, it makes a huge difference. Go back, find them, extract the information by any means necessary, and return to us at once!

That video might be pre-rendered but that was by far the coolest shaky-cam I ever saw.

I just watched it again its really gonna rock
wasnt Killswitch the game that didn twork all the way on PS2 low fps etc?

Yeah, and the ragdoll was awful. But the game was really great.
