Least Favorite Band and Genre

Johnny Cash made country music.

You're all fools.

Interesting Pop/Rap: Justin Timberlake's new album.. it's rather good.

We had to listen to a Cash song in Product Design as part of our Memphis design project (the movement was inspired by one his songs, Stuck In Memphis With the something something, etc, I forget)... goddamnit, It was bad enough that It was a morning lesson and I was tired but that really took the biscuit.

HATEHATEHATE:flame:
Hey, back off. I said some, not many :p

Also, yes, Cash is mildly overrated. The only song of his that I like is Hurt, and, well, it's a cover. So that tells you something about how much I like his other stuff.

I don't like country music, but other than that, i'll listen to pretty much anything. Rap, Rock, Metal, Dance, anything really. Except country music :p

Though I really hate the sex psitols. Most overrated band ever. :/

I've always been a fan of punk rock, but i've hated with a passion other genres such as 'ska'. I also don't really care for any newer bands claiming to be punk. There's only a couple dozen or so bands out there that I really identify with, when it comes to real punk rock music. Most of the rest is just pop rock.

Anyways, as for least favorite genres, I will have to go with Rap & Country. There are some songs of each that I will listen to, but generally not.

Aye. For me, they also rank alongside Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, Queen, Ramones... No thanks.

Going from them, though, I guess the only real genre I dislike is stuff like rock in general or 'classic' rock or whatever. Snore.

You sure it wasn't Johnny Cash covering Bob Dylan's "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again?"

Whoooops. My bad, it was a Bob Dylan song. I knew it was someone dull/acoustic. But yeah, s'the song.

I'm now comptelely puzzled.. how can anyone who has even a slight interest in rock music in ANY form dislike Led Zepplin ?

Because they bore me. :p Like what most rock/metal does now. It all feels... too 2D to me. Guitar, bass and drums playing some typical rock song with a solo added about 2 minutes in. I just can't listen to it. Tryed to, didn't like it.

Worst genre? American rock fads which are marketed down the throats of teenagers, eg. Speed Metal (or whatever it was called) and the recent-ish Emotional Hardcore bollocks. I would have said Hip-Hop, but it had a golden age ...where rap bled into electro and lyrics would be about girls, parties and politics. Now it's just about how cool it is to rob a granny and getting shot (i.e. not very).

Worst bands? Panic! At the Disco, Boy Kill Boy, My Chemical Romance, etc. Christ, just thinking about them makes me want to vomit and take a shower.

Did you really give them a chance? Led Zep have some pretty unique song structures.

Like I've said before, I've given them enough chance. I just can't get into it. They could have the most craziest, unique and original sounds in the world, I really couldn't care less in the end, I just need music to make me think 'Yes' or 'No' in terms of 'Do I Like This?', and Led Zep make me think 'No'

Yea opinions are opinions, i was just wondering why you felt they were too "2d"?

It just sounded dull to me; nothing jumped out at me, nothing made me really smile or think ''that was awesome'' and it just generally ran through my speakers, did nothing and then end. I didn't hear anything that really appealed to me in any way, save maybe a one or two songs, and even then I can only remember Trampled Under Foot being something I could actually listen to, albiet not much.

I'd agree that Dylan definitely is not for everyone (even if I'm a crazy fan). But its impossible to at least not respect his body of work and the effect its had on music in general.

Not really. I like music for what it sounds like, not for what it has done or whatever. Kudos for having a big fanbase and selling loads of albums, probably influincing others, but in the end, this all means nothing to me.

I don't care what you listen to, Bob Dylan had a hand in it. I shiver at the thought of what music would be like without his influence.

this is a little sipbit from allmusic.com.......i have to agree

he pioneered several different schools of pop songwriting, from confessional singer/songwriter to winding, hallucinatory, stream-of-conscious narratives. As a vocalist, he broke down the notions that in order to perform, a singer had to have a conventionally good voice, thereby redefining the role of vocalist in popular music.

I hate screamo and associated screamo bands.
There, my contribution to this thread is done. I may sleep well tonight.

So? It's no concern of mine. The artists makes some art, I take the art, and I either enjoy it or I don't. What they do in their free time, who they were influenced by or who they like doesn't matter to me. They make music, and I listen to it. The End.

A lot of music that we enjoy today likely wouldn't exist in Dylans absence. That's all I'm saying.

Oh well, too bad. Hell, maybe better music might exsist? Who knows. Far as I'm concerned, it's the artist who decides to like him/it/who, I'm just there to listen to the output, which on post occasions, sounds nothing like a influence, so whatever.

Anti, I like you. Don't take any guff from these swine.

Led Zep and Dylan can play on the stereos of others. We don't need to give a flying crap about it.

People still haven't gathered that someone isn't always gonna like the same thing as them.

I really don't think you guys understood my point, I don't care if you listen to him or not, I don't even like him. The only Dylan song i even listen to on occasion is Knocking on Heavens Door.

All I'm saying is doubt post 60's music would have been as good if he wasn't around.....my opinion.

No, no - I understand, just all I'm saying is that I really don't think it matters if he influenced a bunch of bands and musicians, and that I'm totally against even remotly liking him, be it musician or a person, because he influenced people or sold millions of records in particular. You wouldn't believe the amount of times people have actually said ''Yeah, you should respect Black Sabbath because they evented rock'' - who cares? They still make dull music. Back then, in the 60's or whenever the hell it was, I might of liked it, as there wasn't so many more better musicians/artists around as there is today.

If that's a fact then I interpret it as speaking volumes about why the scene, and most of every one of its stupid ****ing facets, is so undeveloped, in terms of progressiveness, not attributes.

I won't claim that Zeppelin is a godsend, but I absolutely love them.

Also, who cares if they're overrated/underappreciated/too well known/scene/not scene/influential, etc? I gotta agree with AntiAnto here.

Ska. Is. Not. Punk.
