Marc Laidlaw of Redmond was out taking photographs of last Thursday night's thunderstorm from just behind his sliding glass door on the back of his Eastside home. He got about three great lighting shots, but the fourth one might have been more than he bargained for.

He snapped his camera just as lightning struck a tree in his backyard, capturing nature's awesome power.

Good shooting there Marc, now we know one thing that'll happen in Half-Life 3

Ya know, we had a thunderstorm a couple of minutes ago here. One of the lightning bolts hit the house on the other side of the street. I immediatly jumped from my chair...

I got lucky too

Oh , this reminds me of the last year when we were digging some bunkers in the army at the woods and one lightning bolt struck to a tree just seven meters from us. It was the most frightening and awful sight I have ever witnessed. Don't care to see anymore of those tbh. And yeah, it kinda looked like the blast in that image, only it got more yellowish and reddish colors. And the sound was like from a big grenade of some sort.

Nobody got seriously hurt and I felt really lucky that day. only few minor burn injuries were treated.

Sometimes I think back and realize how lucky I am to witness the life.
