I must be the only one who wasnt impressed at all with the game. It was incredibly average, unfinished, and the story was boring and didnt engage me at all. Both KOTORs were far, far better than this game, I dont see how it could be favorited so much.

You're not the only one. There were some promising gameplay elements, and some parts of the story were relatively captivating, but by and large it was pretty average. If they tighten up the combat, strengthen the RPG elements a bit and stop trying to be so ambitious with the number of side planets/quests, they could make a pretty decent game out of it. Also, I didn't mind the dialogue wheel too much, but maybe make it so the responses actually correlate to the option you choose more than 90% of the time. :|

I'd also like it if they could change the tone of the story to become a little darker or a little more light-hearted, it seems like they were stuck somewhere between cheesy 80s sci-fi and your typical Bioware drama, but without any of the quirkiness or loveable characters. If they could decide on a theme and write it somewhat convincingly it'd be a lot easier to like, but I just found the majority of the dialogue to very... unengaging. Not that it wasn't acted well, either, everything just seemed very sterile. I have that problem with a lot of sci-fi settings, mind you...

I wonder if the PC version will come out at the same time as the 360 version? Or will the PC have to wait longer again.

I suspect it will be multiple platform like most of EAs releases these days.

I wouldn't call it average, I thoroughly enjoyed the game, but, it did feel unfinished, and very rushed.

Especially storywise I felt there was so much more that could have been done to flesh out the characters etc and overall environments, had Bioware been given the time.

I agree. For me it didn't have the depth of a game like The Witcher. There wasn't really any consequences for your actions and the story was far to predictable. It's a decent game, but not as good for all the hype it gets.

Yeah well to be fair The Witcher didn't have as much pressure, IMO, the bigger a company gets and the more 'popular', the more it is pressured by its publishers to get its game(s) out quickly in order for them to profit faster.

You'd be surprised of how much pressure was on CD Projekt by Atari. As they were not a well known dev they were not given a decent budget and they had very strict deadlines to meet. To the point where the devs lived in their office and cut off the internet to get it finished. Only once when it was finished and sold well that Atari released their potential and allowed to to do it proper with the enhanced patch. I'd say there was far more pressure on them than on Bioware.
Bioware games are good, but they are to much the same now. They follow the standard RPG formula. Bad guy who's not really a bad guy, the mother of someone on your team is a baddie who you have to kill in front of them, you can either be really good or an evil bastard etc

Mass Effect has alot of polish and look great and immerse you into the world. But once you start to peel away at it you find out that all it has, it looks. The Witcher for me has set the new benchmark for these type for RPG's, and i'm looking forward much more to The Witcher 2 than Mass Effect 2.

Fixed that for you. ;)

As a result I can only imagine all platforms involved suffering horrible issues of one kind or another. I mean hi general protection fault.

...what? What the **** are you smoking?

CD-Projekt is THE BIGGEST PUBLISHER IN POLAND. Atari didn't do **** all, CD-Projekt funded the project, as it was their in-house development team, CD-Projekt RED.

On topic, Mass Effect is a good movie. It's not an RPG (the choices are, unfortunately, a bit superfluous, the dialogue system, while amusing, is more for adventure games rather than RPGs, lack of balanced character development system...), but it has some really good writing, great voice acting, well developed character interaction and a good story (even, if it uses a lot of Bioware cliches).

Got to love those new artworks. The scifi city looks awsome.

Had to start playing ME1 again. The amount of information in the game is just huge. I've been listening trough the codex tapes, talking to everyone. The game feels more like a movie, especially at the begining when you first enter the citadel "wooooooow". If the game would have been a bit more polished it would have gone past Deus Ex in my top games list.

Do want. Now.

Dunno if this needs a spoiler since its in the video but heck, just incase.
I doubt Commander Shepard is actually KIA. You will either start the game as a different character and investigate Commander Shepard's situation to find out what actually happened. Or you will start as Commander Shepard and the game will end with him being potentially killed by the Geth, leading to that Teaser.

Im quite sure Shepard isnt dead. The last cutscene where he SHOULD HAVE DIED and the silly smile he gives are a clear implication that he is invincible.

Yes, Publishers NOT developers.Outside of eastern Europe they are unknown.
All they've done before was translating and publishing well known games there. The Witcher was the first game they ever made and Atari did have a massive hand in it. Read the blogs and their forums and they'll tell you that. The English translation was done by Atari even though CD-Projekt wasn't happy that they were cutting loads of it to save money. The deadlines were made by Atari.

CD-Projekt funded the project, because it's THEIR development house. Not Atari's.

CD-Projekt is a PUBLISHER. CD-Projekt RED is a DEVELOPER operating under CD-Projekt.

Atari PUBLISHED the game abroad, but they did not fund the development.

When playing ME1, I felt a little bit like I was playing a remade version of Advent Rising with a different story line and less emphasis on the cutscenes. I loved both games.

...I hope we get to play as robot Shepherd!

I really doubt he's dead, considering Bioware told people to keep their ME save files.

You made other choices in the game, particularly at the end, that affected more than just Shepherd.

I definitely expect a new character, regardless as to whether Shepherd is alive or dead.

I'd like to stab people who claim Shepard is alive. He's dead - his luck ran out when he survived the Sovereign.

I dont know, I dont mind a new character, but the way bioware had described it made it seem like we would be taking Shepard through the entire trilogy, so I doubt he's dead, but if he is then who the **** cares, its a new mass effect.

Edit: The KIA could be some bullshit excuse for Shepard to go undercover in Omega.

Double Edit: http://masseffect.bioware.com/ on the main page shephard is a static silhouette. Way to obvious hes totally not dead.

You know, that might mean just about anything.

Still going on the whole undercover in omega thing. We'll probably find out the entire story in the prologue chapter. Or if they just come out and say "Yo shep is dead. He didn't shep hard enough. Get it? ehehe alright buy our game."

Going undercover as the galaxy's single most famous human?

In ME2 they ****ing better let me be able to make a dude with a ****ing hobo-beard.

Seriously, I don't want to be no clean-shaven fashion-lovin' ****. I want to be like one of those vietnam vets with my big beard and endless rantings about the war and the government and stuff.

What, and hole up in one of the Citadel parks and shoot at pedestrians and C-Sec, reliving flashabacks of your military past?

...

****, that's awesome.

Not in the Terminus Systems. Omega is basically the opposite of the citadel and a haven for all of the galaxies criminals. I doubt the majority of them even know about shepard, the reapers or any of that.

Edit: Actually I remember from reading the book that a very small amount of people in the terminus system knew about all the reaper business, nevermind who shepard was.

AWESOME.

I reckon we'll be playing as Kahlee Sanders. Although I haven't read the second book yet so... who knows.

I don't care how terribly that doesn't fit with the Mass Effect universe, because now that's all I want too.

**** THAT.

If I want to play as a vaginanimal I might as well go boot up a Barbie game!

So why kill him off at all, if no one would recognize him regardless?

I hope this comes out for PC at the same time this time instead of way after the 360...

The first one got some things right, but it definitely went splat in some areas. The sidequest thing didn't really bother me because I... just didn't do them, haha. So hopefully they don't waste time on that sort of trash and actually suck it up and do a little bit more voice recording (okay, a lot more) so conversations can actually go more than one way! That's what bothered me the most... you have all these dialogue options and it was OBVIOUS it did not matter what the hell you chose without even reloading and choosing something different to see it in action. That's probably part of the reason all the characters seemed so freakin' boring. Oh, and the inventory system... holy hell, what a POS...

They've got the combat, the look, and the feel down, though. Poundin' through with my shotgun was pretty satisfying. Until that craptastic final battle anyway. Yay Zelda?

I can't believe so many of you are buying the whole 'Shepard's dead' thing, but I really hope it's true. Let's start over on characters and do it right this time. :p The game's long since uninstalled so I don't have my goddam saves anyway!
