Well still, they're one of the more popular metal bands. I'll check the others out though, thanks!

redundant: http://www.btinternet.com/~daniel.emile/sounds.htm (miocene)

another underground metal band in the UK. pretty old but still decent stuff. start with 'Rivets', takes a while to get going and it's not the whole song but it's half decent. :)

EDIT: http://www.pitchblend.com/newsite/flash.php -----> start with 'Driver'..it's more emo but good listening.

http://www.johnnytruant.co.uk/downloads.htm ----> only has one song, but what a ****ing song. get listening!

oooh

Miocene:
I reallly liked "Deus Ex Machina", "Rivets" and the bass on "Poisoning Dionysus" (VERY tool-esque, in a good way) was awesome.

I couldnt get Pitchblend to load, but I listened to Johnny Truant - "Primitolagist~~" awesome drumming, and kickass guitar riffs on this one, especially the breakdown near the end, with the double drumming and guitar slicing into the vocals.
the vocals were a tad weak, but otherwise, great stuff ;)

AudioRage said:

the Luxt site wouldnt load for me either, but Blownload was EXCELLENT!

the vocals were kinda off-putting at first, but its actually pretty damn cool.
the audio mixing was done damn well.
I loved "Daughter"... and "Eat my F**k" ... and well everything listed there... thanks for the link....
serious this band rocks hard.

Holy crap,
Killswitch Engage: (kicks EXTREME ASS)
http://www.killswitchengage.com/newsite/ (anything, although I love "My last serenade" and "Numbered Days"

My last serenade is allready a ****ing classic after listening to it once LOL this is the kinda metal I like. Just now firing up Numbered Days. [Edit] omg these guys are the shit, can you reccomend any other songs by killswitch or bands of this calibure?

Dude, these are some of my favorite bands!

Otep, Opeth, Killswitch Engage, Dry Kill Logic, Arch Enemy!
However, you forgot these guys; As I Lay Dying, Deicide, Within Temptation, and the long broken up Ebony Tears.

Killswitch Engage are the shit

my fave KSE songs

My last Serenade
Numbered Days
The Element of One (you will LOOOOVE THIS ONE!)
Self Revolution
In the Unblind
When Darkness Falls
To the Sons of Man
Rise Inside
Rusted Embrace
Just Barely Breathing
Numb Sickened Eyes
----
pretty much anything KSE is excellent, however I prefer the former singer Jesse Leach (he is on hiatus after some vocal problems, hopefuly he gets well, and back with KSE soon) Jesse Leach sings "My last serenade" (and all the songs I listed above)

I recommend checking the other bands I linked to, all good stuff.

also be sure (if you havent) to check out In Flames, and Cyanotic (both excellent)

couple other cool ones I like

Project 86:
http://www.project86.com/index2.html (I recommend giving "Hollow again" a listen, its not on there but check your fave music trading service for it)

Without Face:

http://www.withoutface.34sp.com/main_eng.htm (check out "In the Garden")

Stone Sour:
(I know its well know, but still cool.. this is the lead singer from slipknot, in his new band)
http://www.stonesour.com/home.html (I recommend "Get Inside", "Inhale", "Blotter"

Nightwish:

http://www.nightwish.com/ (Check out "End of all Hope")

Construcdead:
http://www.construcdead.com/# (check out "Rise", "Pinhook" is pretty cool too)

40 Grit:
(now no more, but still cool)
http://www.40grit.com/ (Check out "Only Human" on your fave sharing software)

dont forget to check out Cyanotic's music video for "Waiting for a Martyr"
purely awesome:
http://www.cyanotic.com/media/download_vid.asp?FileName=Cyanotic-Waiting_for_a_Martyr.mov

You've listed some great bands here. Some I've already known and some I'm just discovering.
"In Flames - trigger" was such a unique song (love the guy's voice during the chorus), one of my faves.

My favorite one so far is "Soilwork - Rejection Role" it's not that heavy but its really fast.

check out Soilwork's "Song of the Damned"
yeah I love all these bands, and I just wanted to share.

Thanks for the recommendation! That was great!

I love these retro-metal sounding songs, they have a lighter feel to them while still providing the heavyness that I love in metallic music. It's hard for me to find songs that actually have a flow to them and not just some loud sounds strung together with some guy moaning and groaning into the microphone.

I like metal that sounds scary or different from everything else, kind of why I'm into bands like In Flames and Soilwork.

Any other recommendations fitting this descrpition. I'm still lokking through your list with great delight.

for melodic/strange/dark try: Opeth, Nightwish, Nevermore, Without Face, Lacuna Coil, The Gathering

for a sound similar to Soilwork and In flames try
Violent Work of Art, and END7.

Im in love with END7 right now (all the bands I mentioned, have links and recommendations in my first post in this thread, and a couple more earlier)

Mindmare:

Nightwish:

http://www.nightwish.com/ (Check out "End of all Hope")

If you like Nightwish I'll bet you'll probably love Sonata Arctica; Power metal at its best. Great example tracks (none on any sites that I can see, though) are The Cage, Wolf and Raven, Black Sheep and Kingdom for a Heart.

On a more personal note, they happen to be my favourite band as well ;)
