Yeah I got that one, just watched that Cyanotic's music video for "Waiting for a Martyr"

And listening to Nevermore - Lost
awesome ;)

also another (immensely) well known band, but Im throwing it out there for the beginners. If by some reason you live in a cave and havent heard of them, I HIGHLY recommend them.

MushroomHead:

(check out "Sun Doesn't Rise", "kill Tomorrow", "These Filthy Hands", and of course "solitaire Unraveling"

Yeah ive got some mushroomhead they rock the house.

I find the lack of non-US bands in this topic disturbing. Time to remedy the situation!

Sikth
This is undoubtedly some of the best modern music to appear from the British Isles in a long friggin' time. If you thought System Of A Down were Schizophrenic.... Listening to the entierty of "Skies Of Millenium Night" will put you in a headspin. Back and forth, up and down, side to side, inside out, KABOOM!

Alec Empire
While Atari Teenage Riot were certianly rather popular in some areas (especially Europe), frontman Alec Empire has been getting very little attention; attention he sorely deserves. Digital generated noise never sounded so brilliant. "Intelligence and Sacrifice" or "New World Order" are great examples of some of the stuff he's done.

Amen
Well, they're US based, but still worth the mention. Unfortunately, no website.....but they're one of the most brutal and honest bands around. You may have heard that they've been signed to Daron Malakian's record label (guitarist from SOAD). "Mayday" or "Broken Design" are good ones.

Breed 77
A nice blend of different cultures. A less chaotic, more complex System Of A Down. "La Ultima Hora" is a great one.

Hell is For Heroes
Very british, hard hitting, and emotional. "I Can Climb Mountains", "Nightvision" and "Retreat" are some of the most uplifting songs I've listened to.

The Mad Capsule Markets
Insanity on a stick. From Japan. With a digital fetish. Just search for the artist name, any of the songs will do.

Skindred
Raggae-Metal anyone? "Set It Off" and "Babylon" were simply made to skank and head bang along to at the same time. :D

Soilhttp://www.soilmusic.com/flash/main.html
Another US band. I dunno how popular these guys are anywhere else, but they're virtually unknown in the UK. Yummy stuff. "Breaking It Down" and "Halo" are yummy ones.

actually out of the 28 bands I posted, US bands are the minority, most are from Canada, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, etc.

but thanks for the links, Sikth is pretty cool (Dedalus posted it earlier)
Im gonna go check out the links :) be back with my thoughts afterward

however, SOIL is very well known in the US, good stuff I like "Unreal"

Hmm, I should probably get some sleep tonight. ;) hehe

[EDIT] Damn, how could I forget Amplifer and Oceansize. Bands from your home town just seem a helluva lot better than everything else, don't you think? :D

I was dissapointed in Alec Empire, especially "buried Alive" which is an obvious carbon copy of his previous band's (atari teenage riot), "with no remorse (I want to Die)", from the Spawn soundtrack... I mean exactly the same (in terms of musical flow, same pauses, same intensity only difference is lyrics)
"addicted to you" wasnt that bad, but He doesnt have "range".... definately cant touch Trent Reznor (of NIN durr) :)

The Mad Capsule Markets: now these guys are just weird lol, a little too happy for my tastes, however good mixing and decent vocals.

Skindred:
wow, that is really unusual... raggea/rock/rap what a combo, listened to "Babylon", for some reason it reminds me of Sublime. (dont ask why) not bad though. smoking it up, then headbanging = dangerous combo :P

I couldnt access Breed77's website, and couldnt find any alternate sources for their media, so I will have to try back later, same thing with AMEN and Hell is for heroes (unfortunately)

everyone knows em, but they got some good stuff
DOPE

also
EARSHOT their new song "Not afraid" sounds cool. (very toolesque band if you dont know them... although they are pretty well known)

Raging Speedhorn are another one you should check out. Just balls-out heavy, really. Not much to it. :)

[EDIT] Dope are pretty good, but not really something I'll commit to. They just seem to remind me of every other band alive, heh. :)

Metal Church - I'm not that into thrash/black metal, but this is great stuff. I recommend looking for their self titled song; "Metal Church".

I just saw one of those "scary" flashes featuring the Lord's Prayer as done by Cradle of Filth... think I'm off metal for awhile ;_;

Yikes, this is an old thread. You probably could have just created a new thread in the music forum rather than raise an old thread in the wrong forum. :)
