Metal Gear Solid 4 2008 Theatrical Trailer

Wow, that was an awful trailer. Game looks good though

Haha ok... MGS1 had a certain impact on me as a kid. But MGS3 in terms of story and gameplay was better.

Actually it was pretty horrible, despite the universal critical appraisal and positieve fan response. Bad game, bad game.
 
Having no real prior knowledge on the Big Boss character, I thought MGS3 storyline (minus the craziness) was really quite good.

Other than the fact that he was the DNA basis for Solid

That said, the gameplay I'd say definitely took a step backwards. MGS2 easily takes the cake in terms of the most polished gameplay out of the three. However, MGS1 is the daddy of them all and putting into perspective of when it was released, I'd say it gave me the most impact out of all three games. The gameplay, presentation, storyline... everything was absolutely stunning for it's time. Hell it's a better game than a lot of the shit that's released today, all it needs is a graphical overhaul.

Back to the trailer, I thought it was ridiculously cheesy and the voiceover wasn't good at all. Hell they should've stuck with some of the trailers they've released earlier. This is easily the worst one I've seen.

edit: Even though Twin Snakes is MGS1 with updated graphics, they ****ed it up by adding even more unnecessary bullshit (think of the Lucas touch-up on Star Wars).
 
I have to agree with gargantou MGS 3 really wasn't great and MGS 1 was easily the best :D
 
MGS2 and MGS3 stories both felt a bit too supernatural for me, sure MGS1 had Psycho Mantis, but telekinesis I can handle, but in MGS2 we had an immortal bisexual vampire(Who's back in MGS4), in MGS3 we had a ****ing GHOST, in MGS4 we have ****ing PMS-angry cyborg females!
 
MGS3 was great, ya crooks. Don't let nostalgia cloud the fact that both MGS2 and 3 represent far more polished and well rounded games. I'm not sure which I like the best, and as much as I enjoyed MGS1 it had some really hilariously crappy stuff (LOOK ON THE BACK OF THE BOX).

LOL, sorry but I just have to add, the whole "changing fatigues/camo on the fly" thing in MGS3 was gay as hell. Wow, that's so realistic and fun.

I never played any MGS other than the original NES version. Never had any desire to play any of the newer ones except maybe the first one to land on the PSone. Never got around to it though.

Oh well, life goes on. :p

It's not nostalgia for me personally as I still liked MGS 2 just not 3 ;)

I finished that one.

I remember going over my friends house and he was going on about how cool it was. I wasn't really impressed. I didn't care for it. However the cigarettes and cardboard box were so funny at the time.
 
Im playing through all the games right now. Started playing MGS today just beat sniper wolf. Played for like 5-6 hours straight!

Thats a good idea, but i think ill have a hard time going from better to worse controls.

Are you sure it's not incompetence then? I've never really had a problem with any of the MGS's controls. In fact, this is one of the first times I've seen this even brought up...

Well, I was exaggerating a bit, but I seem to remember that you had to hold down about 4 buttons at once to fire a gun in first person. If that's good control design then... yeah.

No, just 2 buttons. R1 to go into first person, and square to fire.

You obviously didnt read my post, but ill still reply. I LOVE THE MGS controls and going from 1-2-3-4 they just get better and better.

D: Technically it is a button if its on the freaking controller. You might as well say the d-pad isnt a series of buttons. besides cant you PUSH down the analog stick? I rest my case.

yeah i think he's saying he doesn't like 3's controls and is dumbfounded why you do like them.

Personally my main gripe with MGS 3 was the controls though :|

He said he remembered having to hold down about 4 buttons to fire in first person, when you only need to hold down 2. What you said was irrelevant since no one was complaining about
aiming, you were just trying to be a smart ass.
