MGS4 bosses revealed

Screaming Mantis, in mgs1 there was a Psycho Mantis

Raging Raven, ....Vulcan Raven

Laughing Octopus,......Decoy Octopus.

Crying Wolf,.....Sniper Wolf.

wtf is crying wolf? it seems to be able to fly with what look like wings :/

Don't look gay to me, they just look to go along with the biomechanical concept of MGS4.

Great. I like them, biomech cyborgs are much better than MGS3 fantasy electric gay Russian colonel or blood crying ghost.

Hmmm.. that Laughing Octopus design is pretty sweet. Sort of reminds me of Solidus. I loved that boss battle :)

dam I knew there was robots but this??

maybe this mean the game will be more futuristic than we expect?

What are you people talking about! Holy shit those looks ****ing GREAT!

Well I have to say, whilst I do not agree that they look gay, I would have prefered more 'human' bosses..

Hideo is already showing the new trailer to selected people!

(I took this from ps3forums)
Some of the impressions so farfrom people who have already seen it:

"Sorry guys, but these bosses look pretty ****ing badass in motion. Watching Laughing Octopus and Screaming Mantis brutally kill soldiers gave me a boner.
Believe."

"They're already showing the trailer. Was surprised to come back here and see no discussion about it.

Basically, Screaming Mantis controls people like they were marionette dolls, twisting them until their bones break and they expire.

Laughin Octopus is disguised as, i don't know, something that just looks like a totem made of coils. Then he/she picks up PMC soldiers, constricting them or skewering them with a mechanical tentacle.
It's totally different from the other trailers."
"Looked like pure cutscenes. I was a little distracted, but will try to go back and look again. I've got a disc with new screens and "playable demo" screens that I'm looking through."

We shall see how it turns out, what I liked about say MGS1 bosses for example was that you could identify with them, like Psycho Mantis whom accidentally killed his entire home village, Sniper Wolf, Vulcan Raven etc, they all had quite distinct personalities and interesting stories, atleast for a game.

Make no mistake I'm not trying to diss the game but this definitely decreased my hype a bit, I mean MGS1 for example was really quite realistic if you look past Metal Gear and the paranormal bosses, I just dont like the 'mixing' Kojima is doing in 4, MORESO than the previous installments. I.e. he's mixing sci-fi robots into a normal 'modern-day' world, I really dont like it.

Your worries are very valid, however we won't know for sure till we play the game, I am pretty confident though that Kojima won't dissapoint...

The bosses look great, I just hope they are emo like in mgs 1, I did not like the fact most bosses in mgs3 had hardly anything to say, except aaargggh!!! I want long existential melodrama.

Gray Fox, they might not evne be human in any way for all we know, they might just be like the other 'vehicles', i.e. animals mixed with machines.

they may be suits like raiden suit, but I doubt it

They look alot like the other biomechanical metal gears to me.

I wouldnt dischard the idea of being suits

though the wolf dont look like a suit

i look forward to the trailer, see the bosses in motion, their animation.

The game's pallete is too light brown imo, colours are too bland.

I like how you pointed out the obvious in your earlier post Jim. ^^

I agree about the colours.

I agree about the colours.

To be fair, we have really only seen this one environment and if anything but light brown were used to depict a Middle Eastern environment I would think something is a little fishy....

Oh, and the octopus looks rad.

We will visit more locations in the game, every location will have unique colour pallete. It's still better than 99% of Japanese manycoloured kitshy games.

In the trailer from E3(I think it was), where vamp fights raiden, it looks like EASTERN EUROPEAN buildings in the background and it still has the same colour palette.. Just saying..

I think they're human because the headline says they're women, although this could just be some obtuse way of saying that they're 'female' robots.

Btw it looks awful to me, but then I've never liked MGS' style much.

These (female?) Cyborgs/Robots are very cool actually, you can tell it's Shinkawa's designs at its best, they remind me of ZOE a little bit...

There is a leaked trailer in shitty quality, do you want link?

This is too busy. This is all too busy!

I feel inclined to agree. I mean, there's potential for something cool here... but it just looks messy. And the names are laughable. I'm not even too fond of the series, so I don't know why I care. But these mechanical monstrosities look so removed from humanity that I don't know how you'll get an MGS4 equivalent of Psycho Mantis or Sniper Wolf.

And the octopus is... interesting. But I can't say it looks good. It's actually quite ridiculous, moreso than what's normal for MGS.

heh i just did it for the noobs tbh.

over at metalgearsolid.org a guy identified a signpost in the trailer as being south american in the part where vamp fights raiden.

Okay, but that doesnt hcange my point because it still appeared to have the same colour palette as the middle east scenario.

It looks good. MGS is my favorite series but I've never been a fan of the silly anime crap they put in. At least this is somewhat cool anime crap as opposed to bisexual vampires or guys that have the inexplicable ability to control bees.

:( This is the only game I want which isn't on 360. One game just doesn't justify the cost of a PS3 even if its an epic game like this T_T Seriously hope they show the 360 some love :( :( :(

So I guess you won't like the name of that cyborg team, it's called "The Beauty and the Beast" ( I'am not making that up, it's true)

There you go, another name you can hate... :D

Actually, I don't mind that naming. However, stuff like "RAGING RAVEN" sounds like something I'd doodle onto my workpad in 5th grade.

I don't hate the MGS series. But I do think it receives far too much undue acclaim.

Cool bosses.
Crappy names. Sounds like something from an action figure lineup. Not to mentioned that they were already used in MGS1.
