Minecraft = Love

I thought the disappearing items was a bug, but it looks like someone is actually doing this shit.

It would indeed be nice if there was a way to monitor player actions, or at least chest activity.

oh man I want a water slide like in that video. also i hate thieves, ask and you probably will get something by trading, its not that ****ing difficult!

I like how this game is also one big experiment in social engineering.

can mods spawn water points? i think i over-read someone asking for one last night when i was on. i'm gonna need one soon if that's cool.

If anyone needs dirt, there's around 9140 tiles of it near Ennui's donation box at spawn.

Soon there will be a lot of cobblestone too.

Yes, next time you're in the server at the same time as an admin (usually Raz or I are on) ask us to spawn them for you.

Jesus Viper, I could have used that a few days ago before my outrageously huge dirt pyramid was completed.

I'll need the cobble though so I can surface the whole thing in steps :D

It would be cool if there was a feature that included some wort of longitude/latitude grid of some sort display so you could give coordinates and mark boundaries and such. Or spawn could the origin of an XY axis (0,0). Either that or have an in game real time map

Also, I found someone's mine shaft right on the shore of my estate area (there is a really big dirt tower above it and there is a stone and wood bridge). I'm ok with the mine but I'd appreciate if it remain just a mine. If you are game we could maybe talk about some collaboration on that area. Who are you btw?

Edit: the above post is a little dickish. Let me try again. I'm moving into that area and I have big plans for a large area. If you have a stake in that place or care what happens to that area I'd be happy to consult with you and either collaborate or set boundaries. There... a lot less dickish.

It could be one of my many exits in that area, I will check next time I log in.

It may be yours but I went to the bottom and it just ends (its not an entrance or an exit). I left signs around the top that reflected my post of the forum. Its also REALY far from your place. But check, I don't want to step on any toes.

I just got the alpha version today. I'll play with you guys if you tell me how. :)

I already got the Minecraft Canary for my Droid X. Mmm, recipes.

Just click multiplayer and use the ip in my sig.

Edit: I need your username too. Case sensitive.

I kinda feel like a dick. I've been running around this very large area looking for a place to build an estate and there are two places where it looks like people are digging and or building. I'e kinda been hoping to keep the entire area a wilderness type space but I'm not sure I can honestly claim such a large area (I've marked it with spires with torches on top. people who have been in the area have probably seen them.

I'm kind'a spazzing out because I don't want people on "my" land but I'm not sure if I can even call it "mine." I ran out that way to have plenty of room.

What do you guys think? Do I have the right to kick people off or should I jut lay off?

Now that that's said. Once I start building I'll have a better idea of how close I want my neighbors to be. Once that's done I'll probably be pretty friendly and willing to cooperate with people. I'd like to keep that whole landmass rural and with no skyscrapers or massive buildings.

Are those your random stone pillars I saw way out east? With a few torches attached? I was actually going to build by one of them but decided not to. I just thought someone was placing stuff for no reason. The one I saw was on a very high cliff. You should probably mark them with signs.

Anyone care to render a map? Angled, as always.

I'll get right on it Hokey.

And right after, I'll install my new NIC and hopefully... hopefully stop having my issues.

I wish I had some hosting space for a deep zoom server...

I thought of that exact same thing too.

I was pondering getting myself a website host with discountasp.net finally like I always wanted to(but have no website ideas), and use silverlight to create a deep zooming web application. Not just deep zooming, but also tunneling. Viewing every single layer of the world.

But for that to work, the cartographer needs to stop being so ****ing buggy. I can't always get the render to work, and thus periodically rerendering and uploading all the layers would be far too aggrivating.

EDIT: Argh. I can't render it. I keep getting a read access violation whenever I continue the debugging process. DAMMIT.

Who else was it that did these renders, and please share your secret to getting it to work.

I think its north of the spawn (you spawn in and turn right... then walk/swim a long ways), past Lobster's place and the hourglass pyramid. A few of them have signs but not all.

If you want to build just circle the spot on the map (once someone renders it) and I'll see if its too close to where I want to build.

What were your plans?

Oh, it's all good. I ended up going way further and found a nice mountaintop.

Also, raz. Stardog usually does the renders.

Well I'm going to give it a shot. It might have given me the access violations because I forgot to run it with admin priveleges.

EDIT: Nope. ****ing minecraft cartographer.

I rendered it successfully. I installed the Silverlight deep zoom tool and am mucking around with it.

How did you get it to render? I think the file size is way too big for cartographer to handle. I read that it has trouble with anything over 8mb, and ours is... 126mb

It's just bad code somewhere in the app. It doesn't even handle the problems gracefully. And it's not an out of memory error because the time I got it to work it was only using like 400 megs of memory.

Also, the NIC I bought seems to have fixed my socket write recv/end of stream errors. My single greatest frustration.

YAY.

Horray, my house is going to be big enough to be distinguishable from that distance \o/

that map is... i can't even comprehend it. i didn't even know half of that stuff existed. you guys have made some amazing things in this game.

you can see my scaffolding/island house in construction which is nice, as well as my guide-rope of torches that leads me back to my mine. i'm still getting my bearings

how does stuff get set on fire in this game? i'm currently building a house with a wood/log finish, should i be worried shit is going to go up at some point?

Fire is caused by flint & steel. And possibly lava, I'm not sure.

I thought I heard someone say something about a furnace and someone's place burning down.

EDIT: Oh, nevermind, I think they were saying a fireplace.

Also, if someone ever armageddon-griefs our server, I hope someone records it. Because despite making me never play multiplayer/minecraft again, it would look so sweet.
