I feel like I have no right to be annoyed about this but does anyone else not like all the random torches that have been scattered throughout the landscape?
It annoys me too. A little. I usually take mine before I leave an area though. If I don't plan on returning.
Edit: I just built a border around this entire landmass. So yeah. All mmmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeee. Right now, the border is just a single strip of cobblestone ( a lot of ****ing cobblestone), but it'll be an actual wall eventually. 3 blocks thick, hopefully. I plan on putting structures everywhere. Home away from home.

I think having torches scattered around is unavoidable. When exploring they're used to mark the path back, mark cave entrances, draw attention to certain areas etc. If you want the wilderness to look nice (unbesmirched by torches), either clear your area of torches, or go further out into the wild.
Dwarf Fortress.I was thinking about this the other day. Wouldn't it be awesome if you could discover dynamically generated towns, inhabited by natives who actually go around and mine shit and fight mobs. And they build or expand their own homes too...
It would be a lot of AI work, but it would be so damn awesome.
Just click multiplayer and use the ip in my sig.
Edit: I need your username too. Case sensitive.
Not for much longer. He's been adding the whole farming and hamlet thing in. In recent talk pages he's discussed expanding civs post-gen. Plus with the army arc there are armies that go around attacking things. After world generation is finished, the world outside of your Fortress(Which you control) is very much still static.
The only reason I even brought up DF is because pretty much every feature I've heard asked for for Minecraft is already in or being developed in DF.
I love reading about DF, but I feel like I would need to understand the code from the matrix to get anywhere.
You can build in adventure mode... and cook and make stone knives and stuff. Two different styles of adventurer working.

Minecraft is a great building-escapism game, but if you want hardcore and feature-rich DF is better.
Oh and DF did the computer and the calculator much better.
Can I suggest we look into this?

It's relatively new, seems like he's still working out a few kinks, but we could always make a backup and test it out.
I say meh, I'm fine with the current whitelist system to make sure every random retard can't join and ruin everything. The amount of freedom you get is what makes Minecraft so great.
Except we're using the whitelist and retards are still ruining things. Only because we're all regulars or friends of regulars, it's almost impossible to tell who's doing it because everyone is basically trustworthy. Just makes this kind of thing easier to get away with.
His response after all the positive comments is very lolworthy.
