I just picked the diamond edition at the egg for $10.00 USD. (free shipping!)

I have not played it in some years, and even then I never gave it a proper go, just completed act one if I remember correctly. Nor have I played any of the expansions which this one includes all three of.

Also, I have heard that the coop in NWN1 is far superior to that of NWN2.

Anyone still playing this?

You did get the Diamond edition right?
Comes with all of the expansions.

I used to play it online quite a bit, fun game with friends.

If I can find my DVD maybe we can play together some time?

Sure. A couple guys I "hang out" with in a vent server are wanting to play it coop. Feel free to PM me if you're interested.

Hordes of the Underdark is awesome... blows away the main game and completely leaves NWN2 and its expansions in the dust.

Alright, found the DVD.
Going to be installing in a little bit.

Now, iirc, there's a few content packs that are pretty much required to play on other servers, right?

I love NWN, not got it installed on my PC at the moment and my discs aren't with me at Uni.

NWN2 was great too to be honest. Storyline is awesome, except for the Good ending.

Nope, but this game haunts my dreams, this has to be the one game I am the most nostalgic about, I just loved it, it is to me what Final Fantasy games are to Waps, it just absolutely rocks my boat.

My advice is if you can live with the dated graphics and you like RPG's, get it, it is glorious.

Its online element is also in a much healthier condition then NWN2.

It has a community expansion pack and plenty of modules for all sorts of online play. :)

I've never played neither NWN1 or NWN2 in multiplayer..*Hides face in shame*

The original NWN was an excellent game. The expansions were fun as well & worth getting had they not already been a part of the Diamond edition. I tried to get a certain family member of mine to play it with me years ago, but at the time he was more interested in playing Red Alert with some kid named Marcus.

I spent a good deal of time playing it online as the coop was very fun & IMO, well implemented. The more so if you played with someone that actually wanted to work as a team & not just go all Rambo. I did have a few issues playing the HOTUD expansion in Coop, though the problems were fixed in later patches.

I believe I still have the original game & all the expansions around here somewhere, though I have not played them in years. The games manual was close to an inch thick & quite fun to read on it's own.

I played it quite far a few months ago. Still amazing. Though I've never been anything but a fighter in it.

The only thing I can't really get the hang of is how in-depth it is as far as skills and stuff go.
It's almost overwhelming. D:

Damnit, I can't find a single store over here in Sweden that has copies of NWN Diamond for sale!

Wow. It's nice to see a older game bring out such a good response. Newegg claims my game shipped yesterday. I expect it probably tomorrow.

Aw, you don't even have it yet?

When you get it, you're going to need to download a huge (1gb!) content pack that's essential if you're going to play online.
Here's the download link.
And here's the pack's information page so can you see what you're getting.

Also, be sure to click the Update button on the launcher when you start the game, it has a quite a few updates it'll need to install first.

I've already got the Community Expansion Pack downloaded and ready to go. (version 2.2 I believe). There is a 500 meg version that is available (it is zipped).

Oh, awesome then. :D
I've got my game all set and ready to go whenever you guys are ready.

Crap!

Do you have any idea just how messy my office is? Gonna take me forever to find the damn game in all this mess. I have tomorrow off. Perhaps i'll look for it tonight.

Do ittt.

****, I'm actually going to have to take a rain check for this.
No where near enough disk space and no where near enough patience to relearn the game all over again, having not played for what seems like 2/3 years.

I knew you were going to bail. Right from the beginning, I knew it. I read your posts and thought to myself "Hey, this guy seems like a flake. He is going to bail on me."

And you did.

You hit me right where it hurts.

And I will hate you forever.

I cried. ;(

Seriously though, I'm going to be finally hooking up my computer some time this week since I've got a land line all set and ready to go to my friend's router.

Just have to bury it in the ground in an elaborate trench system and feed it through the houses...

Oh FYI guys, the first Neverwinter Nights was not the Bioware one, it was one of the first proper online RPGs(not MUDs), developed by SSI using the Gold Box engine, it first went online in 1991 via AOL and quickly became one of the most popular online games of that era.:)

Figured since the topic said the FIRST one, here's the FIRST Neverwinter Nights.

Well now, don't I look like an asshole...

Don't worry about it.

It's not the first time. :P

I'm kidding.. I'm kidding... ( Waiting for Flaming to begin... )

While in High School, way back in the very early 90's, I took advantage of the new "hardware" (More like swapping entire pre-built all-in-one's) I had installed into the School's PC's as part of my grade for my then "Advanced Computer Class" which is an oxymoron, as there was nothing "Advanced" about the PC's back then. Still, that new 486 running @ 66mhz my Computer/Science/Coach teacher had in his classroom was as close to blazing fast as was available at the time. It ran all the newest games rather well too. I spent many a lunch period playing through many an SSI Gold Box title. When I needed a little faster paced action, I had the good old original Wolfenstein 3D to blast Nazi's in.

Sigh.. The good ol' games from the good ol' past

If anyone is up for giving this another go hit me up on Steam or xfire.
Computer's been up and ready for a while now and I'm hankering for some RPGs.

Reinstalled KOTOR, BG1&2, and this.

I have a copy of both the Diamond NWN1 and NWN2 games, I may want to install them again

To be honest, I was kinda disappointed by NWN1. But that was because I'd been spoilt by BG2 before I played it. Party dynamics are too awesome to shake off that easily.

Yeah I could never get into NWN1, party NPCs are too important for me too.

Personally I hated party NPCs in NWN2, they had the most retarded AI and I hate micromanaging NPCs in real-time games, turn-based like proper DnD? Fine! But not real-time.

Same here. If you want something done, do it yourself.
