New Legend of Zelda details apparently confirmed

In comparison to Twilight Princess' art style it is. I'm not criticizing it (although yeah, it's way too bright), I'm saying it's strange when you basically transpose the same character (adult link) from one game to the next without changing him much. It literally looks like he's in another world, in a jarring way.

I would say if Twilight Princess had never come out you'd have no problem with this Link in this artstyle. I think he looks good. He seems less androgynous in this trailer than in the previous one too I think. Loving the style. I assume the washedoutness is just a bad display.

I wouldn't have as big a problem, no. I still don't think adult Link looks quite right in there, at least not as they've modeled him.

To be honest, I think it looks closer to Ocarina of Time than Twilight Princess was. Zelda was never a "realistic" looking game until Twilight Princess came along and Wind Waker was just so over the top cartoony that the sudden turnaround to Twilight Princess created two very polar styles of art in the Zelda games, with Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask falling in between. If you replay Ocarina of Time and then watch the trailer, you'll realize that Twilight Princess is the outlier in this scenario.

By the way, the fact that Link looks just like Twilight Princess Link may not just be reusing the character model. In Twilight Princess you get given the hero's clothes and are told they belonged to an old hero. Who's this hero? Twilight Princess takes place on a timeline where the Hero of Time never showed up and in any case, Ocarina of Time Link's clothes are a bit different to Twilight Princess Link's, but Skyward Sword Link has the same clothes.

Also, in TP Impaz says her family have passed down the legend of a messenger from the heavens, and thinks Link is that messenger. Link in Skyward Sword is from a floating sky place called Skyloft. If the developers aren't using these connections on purpose they're idiots.

Also, some people think that the new sword Link has in this trailer looks like the Hero's Shade's sword.

Also, the Sword girl looks a hell of a lot like Wind Waker's great fairy, especially her new HUD icon. (not my image)

I really hope you can turn off that controller outline in the game. It makes the UI look so, so bad.

Not that I'm going to play this game, because I don't have a Wii, but still, whoever designed the UI to include that should... stop doing those sorts of things.

I ****ing love it when people try to line up the Zelda "canon"

No, really - completely non-sarcastically, it's quite a fun thing

There's a whole community out there of folks who do this, it's awesome.

They did that with TP too. It's just an on-screen thing for the demonstration so people can understand what the controls are like. It'll be gone from the full copy.

hopefully

I still can't warrant buying a Wii. I hope Nintendo's next system has backwards compatibility or I stumble across a couple hundred dollars. :(

BHC, same.

Well, not the stumble upon money part but warrant the purchase part.
