new radar sucks ass

The only benifit I can see from the radar when it comes to public games, is that it basically lets you know where some1 is without some1 telling you. So for instance, if some1 spots some1 lower B in dust2, and your Upper.... then atleast you have a chance to kill him. This is not differnt than when playing competivily and your team mate seeing some1 lower B and telling you in the Comms.... this helps communication in public games 'without anyone having to shout down the mics'

finally it changes the game from sad knobs who have racked up 600 hours in there bed room owning the server, to everybody can join in, think halo2 on xbox live. cool i might play more

How are those two any different?

Very true but what about all those times they don't use voice on pubs? (except to be annoying)
Or if someone is only partially seen around a corner and the one who put him on the radar didn't even see him with his own eyes and keeps going. But now his teammates now exactly where he is and you see him on the radar. Or if a guy is camouflaged with the wall or in the dark.

*kills more n00bs
They made it way too easy. IMO

Yah, i'm a 1.6 player myself but play Source pubby for a bit of fun now and then, have to say it annoyed me at first on how easy they've made it, kinda defeats the object of having sound to find out where someone is, also it stands out a bit too much for me lol, either way i ain't gonna complain, as a lot of people have said, should be thankful that they even update their games.

I don't really care about it. I used to use the radar anyway and it was good enough, and I played it today (after a week-long absense and non-usual mouse sensitivity) and VALVe haven't noobified it because I still died about as much as I did before the update with my perfected settings.
The radar will only make a difference to those new to the game (to help them get into it). Everyone who's a good player shouldn't be affected at all.

About to play some CSS and it's updating again, and it says here:
>>Fixed an issue with cl_minmodels swapping CT and T skins.
Good for me.
>> Enemies can no longer be "radar spotted" through smoke clouds or while blind.
Good for everyone.
>> Your "self dot" in the radar now shows your view cone.
Good for me.

There is some other things but as of right now I am pretty happy with the new updates.

its annoying when you shoot one enemy, they look at you, and then another one pops out and kills you in a split second, and you know that you just got owned by the radar, but on the other hand, its so funny when you do it to someone else, its like a free kill. I still think it was a poor addition to the game. the voice commands were so much more fun to use, and now they're mostly obsolete.

you remind me of those losers who accuse anyone who can get a positive score.

also, irony > you.

They always were obsolete.

Never used on Pub servers and Teamspeak > Radio Commands

Only bots ever respond to my radio ;(

Only command I ever use is "need backup" and I can usually get an "affirmative" out of it.
If not I just take it as a negative.

To me radio commands are pretty reliable. If you can memorize the keys to initiate the one you want it's faster than holding K for as long as you need to talk.
Either methods dependability depends on the situation at hand, ofcourse.

Or you can just rebind the voice key to v or something... :dozey:

My thumb isn't long enough to press V and let me use WASD at the same time.

WHat say you, Mr. Longthumbs?

--

Actually I never use the mic, so...

I claim exemption.

Use your index finger? And how would you use k if you can't reach v...

I use my index finger for D movement.

I already said I don't use the mic, so therefore I don't use k.

It might be easy for you to change your fingers around like that but once I have a set system for keys it's difficult for me to change it and I lack the dexterity to practice.

If I were to use the mic I'd probably set it to spacebar.

1. Get a mouse with a button on a side and use that for voice.

2. If you want realism, play Operation Flashpoint : Resistance, not CS.

This is good advice for anyone. My Intellimouse has two web browser buttons that I use for nade and rifle switch so I can quickly choose either without compromising movement.

So you could do better? The CS:S cummunity has been calling for updates for ages. Whenever VALVe do (and I'm not just talking about this time) the cummunity bitches and moans.

The World of Warcraft effect

That's called baiting, and it's been happening ever since someone found out you can get a free kill way back in CS 1.0 or beta 5. The new radar doesn't help really in that. You can bait faster and better without staring at the radar. Just use sound.

Baiting is a very low tactic though :p

Your sig is over the limit and it may be a low tactic but can be used to win many rounds ;)

Caused me to commit some WTF HAXOR moments. :)

yeah wtf I got banned for owning someone through doors and boxes 'cos I saw him on radar, then he bitches to the admin and they ban me :\.
Lamers.

The World of Warcraft effect

Off-topic: The thing is Blizz listens to their cummunity and do something then the cummunity goes "OMG U SUCK" instead of offering a better way of doing it. Thats why I never go on the general forums, because there is rarely any positive feedback. As you said, the WoW effect.
Ontopic: Its the same situation here, as you said.

Are you f ucking kidding me??? This is the worst update that I can remember. It's so stupid and so unnessicary.

Opinion

Valve has already noobed up the game so bad its barely exceptable i.e the stupid names of the rooms and the power of the guns and etc.

1.) Room names dont change gameplay, so that's BS.
2.) Incase you didnt know, all the guns are capable of killing people easily. It's called REALISTIC DAMAGE.

Plus the stupid radar is huge! It takes up like a quarter of the screen.

Over dramatising it.

Also it takes away from the teamplay of the game and makes it like we got some ailean sixth sense. Why does valve always try to fix things that aren't broken? Did they really need to noob up episode 2? Did they need to invent some stupid new radar?

For a start, it helps get rid of campers. For another, its your opinion. Oh, and, how the hell would you know about EP 2?

No. I understand the intention but really why add in something like this when the game is set up almost perfectly? If they added the sight thing on the old radar it wouldn't be so bad but really isn't that what teammates are for?

Again, opinion. I for one dont mind the update. Bite me.

I love it when people point out what other's say is their opinion, it basically makes me laugh at them non-stop for 5 or so minutes.

If a game's success depends on opinion (do I like the game or not?) then I would say opinions matter. 1 opinion does not set the tone but many can.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen, ill be here (albeit unwittingly) all week :smoking:

ROFL. That's the worst thing I've ever heard.

I compltetly disagree. If Valve are gonna make stupid names, I'm gonna uninstall all their games, period! We deserve good names!:flame:
Then do it. If you're bitching about names, I wonder how much you'll bitch when someone kills you more than 3 times in a row :|

Yeah don't even come close to us, atomic.

PS I did get the sarcasm in your post.
