I dig some of the set pieces in the trailer, especially the gunship crashing down. It wasn't as gripping as the HL2 E3 videoes, but close enough.

As for the car, if you have the vid on high quality you'll see Alyx actually has her hands on a steering wheel.

Have you disagree there. the E3 trailers have a bit more oomph, and were better presented (ie the blackouts, the haunting music, the set pieces). This one was quite good though.

And you're right - this is far more gripping -- because it's far more "cinematic" -- than the E3 videos.

With the Citadel falling apart and the Combine forces in disarray, the outside world is able to enter City 17.

I like how they've got some background action in the remote cameras: I mean in the part where you see Mossman, with Resistance fighters running past in the background. Detail like that can really suck you into the world...

Maybe the car is Breen's? I think they thought whatever is going on with the bubble as a mech-Breenification process.

This is an extremely bad case of stating the obvious that was stated around 12 months ago.

Let me compile up a list of things that are awesome from this video:
1. Rubble falling from the sky
2.Alyx driving some sort of car, going REALLY fast, going through the citadel while it's getting raped by the dark fusion reactor.
3.The obvious improvement of AI in Alyx. She can kick people when they get close .
4.The awesome sequence of that blue energy growing.
5.More Strider sequences
6.Signs of destruction everywhere. Smoke, fires, you name it.
7.Ant Guards killing Combine (We, of course, are smart enough to dodge their attacks )
8.The fact that the video is over a minute long.

Edit: As for the thing inside that bubble, it could either be:
A:The core of the energy
B:Some sort of synth...?
C:Where I stopped it, it KIND OF looks like Breen in a crouching position.
